I'm slowly learning to work on cars and building my tool collection. I'm looking for a good floor jack. It doesn't need to do anything fancy and it won't get a lot of use but I'd like something that will last for a while. All the cars I can picture myself having can make it over a speedbump but I don't want the jack to preclude me from working on something somewhat low to the ground (like a MX-5 or a Mustang). Any reccomendations?

I kind of want one as well. The parts store cheapo ones suck I miss the old big wheel in front low profile type my great grandfather had that felt like it would last 100 years

Harbor Freight aluminum "racing" floor jack. Get the replacement seal kit so you'll have them available when the original seals inevitably fail.

Other than the seals, I've had and heard of no problems with them.

I bought mine at Sams Club for 80 bucks about 7 years ago and its as solid as a tank. its michelin branded but ive seen similar ones branded with other tire makers there in subsequent years. Its pretty heavy but seems extremely well built and it fits below my dropped 01 corolla. It rubs going under but not enough to damage the paint on the rockers.
