E46 is leaving this weekend, deal is done, in need of another vehicle. Found this. CL has been pretty dry lately in the area as far as BMWs and other stuff I am normally into.
Definitely want, always wanted one, but slightly intimidated. Have the money, but not sure what option to take...
1) enjoy for a week, detail meticulously and immediately re-sell on BaT for profit. (Gut feeling says this is best option.)
2) lightly modify and enjoy as nice weather/occasional DE car.
3) say "f*ck it" and just modify it the way I want, use as track slut. (What do people even do to Starquests?)
What do you guys think? It is probably the cleanest one I have ever seen anywhere, let alone locally.
2 or 3 are good options. But I almost feel like it's too nice for 3.
My main goal may be to keep it out of the hands of some high school "tuner" who would blow it up. I am primarily looking for a DE car so something this nice isn't really what I'm looking for, and Starquests seem to be very unforgiving cars to tune anyway. Maybe I'll just grab it, see if BaT can sell it at $6k, and if not, let the modifications bein.
It's a cheap $3500 old car. Do whatever the hell you want with it. If it were too nice to molest, it wouldn't be so cheap.
I'm pretty sure he's on the phone with the guy now. If not he should be. A full on track starquest would be the bee's knees.
Do it.
Or the internetz will never forgive you.
This should have been a thread about the low-mile, unmolested Starquest you just got back to your house. Go buy it so I can read the inevitable build thread instead and not buy one myself!
I am in the process of doing it. Looking at early next week for pickup (seller's schedule is different than mine), still need to send the E46 off too. Apparently I am the only person to call so far (?!!?!?!?!?!!?!) but I am going to try and get it in my garage for $3k even.
Stay tuned...in the mean time, if I decide to keep, what should I look at upgrading on this bad boy?
BaT will take a cut of your profit.

7% isn't horrible. If I buy for $3000 and sell for $6000 I am still turning a big profit.
If I decide I'm not madly in love with it, anyway,
I know aftermarket boost control is a popular upgrade...as with most turbo'd cars. And coilovers are good for all cars with floppy stock suspension.
Number 2.
Cleanest one I have seen in 10 years and i was very heavily into Mitsus for a long while

You're very lucky it isn't blue, otherwise I would have tackled you over the Internet and already been on my way to buy it.

Yes, the Maui blue Starions are one of the best looking Japanese cars of all time.
I absolutely agree with both of you. Gorgeous color, gorgeous car. I've never been a fan of red cars, but at least this one isn't yellow I guess.

Won't have the $$$ until Sunday!
Definitely buy it. If you want to resell it for profit, leave it stock and don't mess with it. If you decide to keep it, I say option 2 is the best. Looks a little too nice to turn into a gutted track car. Although you may be able to sell all the good interior bits to someone who has a ratty one.
Option 2, then 1 once(if ever) you're bored with it.
I have half a mind to just go and buy it myself since your faith in the force has wavered young apprentice
But no seriously, if that showed up here, I wouldnt even haggle on the price (well, I would, but wouldnt be sad if the price was firm).

buy it. I'm surprised someone hasn't snaked it out from under you already!
Good point, although relatively poor advertising may have something to do with it.
I've actually found an even MORE interesting car that I'm keeping under wraps for now, so I'm probably going to pass on this. If anyone else is interested, go for it!
