Somebody tell me why this is a terrible idea. Tell me why I shouldn't pawn everything I own to buy this. Please, I'm begging you.

as much as I love LS1's and S2000's, I'm not sure I would want them together (prepares for the flaming). If you've ever driven an s2000 in anger, they are a very twitchy and unforgiving car at the limit, even in stock form. Adding all that power would probably make it even worse. I'm sure it would be a hoot in a straight line and normal street hooning though.
They are certainly twitchy in stock form, especially if you put a square setup on them, but IMO it would be pretty easy to tune that out. STR builds don't have the twitchy issues of the stock car, unless the owners want that problem.
I don't have any issues with the concept of this V8 S2K, only with the execution. It sounds like it comes with some issues, and with the engine mounted on a solid plate, it has to have mega vibrations. The steering setup sounds fishy. Couple that with the other potential motor issues it has AND that its bolted to the stock rear-end (weak point when these cars are upgraded with the original motor) and I think you are buying a lot of problems for 21K. Wouldn't surprise me if fuel economy was as good as or better than the stock setup though. At least you get a real overdrive.
I'm sure that torque is a TON of fun, but if you are just interested in a really fast S2000, you can bolt on a turbo kit and make 400hp without much trouble.
TBH I don't think I'd take this over a stock one. Certainly not at about twice what that car would be worth stock. If you just HAVE to make silly power, F20/22s love boost.
To be completely honest that car should be worth LESS than stock. Given how much the guy is asking to start with, i think it'd be pretty much impossible to get that for a reasonable, justifiable price.
Q: What is it like to drive? A: It's like catching lightning in a bottle. . ...I don't even know what that means, but it's super fun.
This generated a laugh.
I have no useful input.
All that time, effort, and money, and you still have red seats and 16" wheels.
I'd be okay with something like a 289 in an S2000; at least you could still rev it to the moon. I'd feel uncomfortable without the insane revs in my S2000!

I have always thought they were pretty cars this one is pretty awesome
just sayin'
I tend to agree with the popular consensus here..............Both LS1s and S2K are cool but probably not together...........and especially at that price.

the price does suck...drop a zero off that pricetag and I think youd be more in my ballpark. But, I bet that thing would make your face hurt from smiling for so long.
This is less than 2 hours from me! I am behind the concept but as others have said, not the execution. I think that using a 4.8L or 5.3L with crazy top end build for lots of revs would make me happier. Solid Mounts? no thanks. Stock rear end? not for me. However, if I could trade my MR2 with less then 3K for it I would... I would then build the crap of an l33 and spin towards the sky!

I was thinking the same thing. a 4.8 with LS6 intake and a crazy cam/valvesprings so you don't have the massive amount of torque (Honda hasn't built something to hold that yet ) but a nice 7500rpm shift point and some really good power up top.
There are plenty of power adders to get that kind of HP out of the S2000's engine, and I personally would greatly prefer that to another blah LS swap.

And I always thought Honda berkeleyed up with the S2k and that it should have been a 3.5V6/6-spd in there. So this is definately somethign I would prefer. Then again, other than the rarity of the G13B in the swift, I don't like screaming 4 cyl engines unless they're strapped to 2 wheels. I like my cars to have a nice fat midrange and good torque down where I use it every day. So a car like that would definately satisfy my needs. Obviously it doesn't for you. It's great both ways.
In reply to Bobzilla:
Agreed. Although I've driven a couple turbo'd S2000's, and they had plenty of mid-range torque.

The only $10k S2000s I've seen have had a lot more miles and often times a salvage title. They've held their value way too well.
I have an AP2. I would trade my engine for an LSx motor anyday, just not for this poorly-executed swap. Or for a nice semi-torquey V6. (and a diff that handles the torque better)
Boost can make a great powerband in an S2000, if you don't get carried away with the turbo size like most people do. I honestly think I would be ecstatic with a 100hp bump from stock, but a huge bump in midrange power.
Yeah, like I said. I would for no more than 3K with my Spyder in trade. It would be a cool car but it is at least 10K over priced.
