Im looking to drop an LSx into a solid chassis that either already does or can be made to handle well. Im looking for something that already has the swap kit (mounts) available.

Buddy of mine has a really nice S14 coupe that's getting the LS2/T56 treatment. Should be fun. I also know where there is a unused Sikky swap kit available for that installation, if you're interested.

How big of a chassis? You can make pretty much any RWD GM product from the mid 60s onward handle well without too much work, and the LSx bolts in with a set of gen 1 V8 mounts and a pair of adapter plates.

I know it's a dumb question. I've been trying to mull it over. F bodies are way over priced in my opinion. A decent one is around 8k where I am. I'd rather build something. I was thinking a light chassis 240 miata etc but I also want it cheap. Looks I could care less it will probably end up flat black.

How about an e31 BMW? Already have a rear end to handle v8 torque and e36 swap kits are probably pretty close to getting you there.

Plus, so sexy..

As long as you don't want A/C...

The two options to make A/C work is to move the passenger motor mount rearward (4"?), which is the best option IMO as long as it clears everything else, or to relocate the A/C compressor elsewhere, which tends to mean that it gets in everything else's way. The water pump design is somewhat limiting as far as accessory mounting is concerned.

The biggest problem with a 911 is that you can't get a cheap one anymore.

I think everone is missing the cheap part. Lol. Anyone strap one in a old mercedes? They are cheap and plentiful in the sub 1000 range. What about volvo 240s?

Both of those would be great projects and reasonably easy as swaps go, but I don't think anyone makes kits for either. JTR might have some of the parts for the Volvo, but not everything.

E28? 944? You reuse the porsche transaxle, which saves you from buying a $$$ T56.

I've done a LOT of research into this. In order, your cheapest options are:

Swap LS1 back into an F-body

S10

944 turbo (supposedly the non turbo manuals aren't up to the torque)

240sx

Non-turbo transmissions after 87 are just as strong as the Turbo units.

The Turbo gearing is a bit better suited for the V8, but many swap early 5th gears into the turbo transaxle to get a better cruising gear.

F-Body too expensive? Find an equivalent year Nova for far less.

To expand on that, 68-74 Novas, and their BOP cousins, are pretty much gen 1 F bodies from a mechanical standpoint, the 75-79 is a gen II f body front suspension, and a gen 1 rear suspension.
