Good article on Magnus in the current issue.
He swerved to avoid a vintage Mercedes and slid into a trailer. That'll buff right out.

Ouch. Yeah, saw that on Instagram last night. Hopefully the car is back in action soon.
And if you see Magnus at an event, please say hi. He's really, really nice.
Guess I should be paying more attention...I didn't know he was going to be in town, that's just a few miles up the road from my office.
The internet must love this guy.
I don't know him, nor was I there, but this whole "swerved to avoid a vintage Mercedes" reeks of BS. Looks from the pics like he was driving like an asshat. double yellow line. parked trailer with the ramp up. Fast enough to go in backwards/sideways and cause that much damage.
Does that car have ABS? I don't see any skid marks. That is a really cool looking car. It maybe fixable on a good frame machine but probably better to just swap tubs.
Good thing the lift ramp was not sitting at head level when he went into the trailer. Glad there were no real injuries, but suspect there is more to the story than avoiding a vintage Mercedes. I think that guy creates some cool ass cars, but don't understand the hype surrounding him. Is it the beard? If he wasn't in LA, I bet none of us would have ever heard of him outside of a few people in the 911 world.
We feature Magnus in the current issue, too, and there's a very neat story behind the beard. The TL;DR version is that he came to the U.S. with just the clothes on his back, built up a nice company from zero, and now creates cool Porsches.
The lack of skid marks is interesting (maybe you just can't see them).
Early 911, trailing throttle oversteer, swerving, and braking while the rear end is not lined up with the front certainly adds to the believably. Still requires a bit of ass-hattery though. I think the early 911 suspension "habits" of the car are likely fixed on those cars though.
Not sure about the hype, but I love what he does. Exactly what I would do if I could. I think those sort of mods are historically not common in the Porsche world. The hair though, to me, it's pretty gross looking. Makes it look like he has been sleeping on the streets for years (I am sure that is kind of the point though, being that he is historically a fashion type guy)
I agree that he makes really cool cars and seems like a likable fellow. I liked the article about him and his cars.
Has a cool collection of cars and he is a master marketeer. I followed a thread on Pelican of his that seemed to be just a cool build thread that discretely turned into look what I'm selling.

just a guess, but look to be a proper track tire, which often don't grip for E36 M3 when cold, and might leave less marks when cold too.
The local paper has some photos from the event on their website: http://www.startribune.com/porsche-rally/322754591/#grid
I met him at Amelia Island a few years ago. I honestly thought he was Rob Zombie at first. The only reason I said hello to him was to hear his voice for confirmation. Was not Rob Zombie , but we talked 917s for a few minutes. Nice guy.
I'll grant that he's an interesting guy, and certainly has a good story about him, but the GRM article didn't do a very good job of defining what makes his cars so special. I felt that there was a lot of vague hero worship going on. I'd be more interested if GRM had simply documented a build with him.
As far as what makes his cars special, I think it's like pornography: You know it when you see it. It's a style that has many fans. Plus I think he has helped expose a younger fanbase to air-cooled 911s.
Just my 2 cents, of course.
Also, yeah, he doesn't sound like Rob Zombie. The first time I met Magnus, I was surprised that his voice is rather quiet. Also, he looks like an older version of Gabe.
From the looks of it, even icons can act like morons:

That looks a lot like trying to stop a 911 without the rear and font tires aligned. As someone noted, cold race tires probably had a lot to do with that.
Bottom line, too fast for the situation. It does look like he was going pretty fast.
What should you do. Get rid of all those dangerous rear engined Porches, so the prices drop...
Looks like some dumb driving. I feel bad the reporter got hurt, but felt less and less bad with every utterance of the word "porsh"
I'm sure he's a great guy and all, but there are a few tiers of idiocy going on here. It's bad enough to drive like that on public roads, and then doing it in traffic takes it a step further, but then with someone else in the car? Even more insane. It sounds like the local journalist got pretty banged up, hopefully he does right by her if nothing else.
So much wrong going on here as pointed out above. Heck, just leaving that transporter there blocking the road with the ramp sticking out is pretty dumb. He is very lucky everyone involved is still in one piece...
