Controlling axle wrap on the rear will probably be a big deal, as I remember the one I drove now and then.

Wellwood beat me to it, I was gonna suggest CalTracs bars.
Is that an upper manifold turned backwards?
I suggested CalTracs and a Panhard on the first page. I would want to research how well they work together but if this thing is sprung decently stiff in the rear I doubt it would be an issue 95% of the time.

Well I learned about something today. Man. Solving squat and axle wrap at the same time! I need to find a solid-axle leaf srping car to try this on...
Somebody on here has an S10 they did this on and it became a big discussion thread. I think it was about six months ago. I found it really interesting and, should I ever get my own leaf sprung car back on the road, will be looking that over with great interest.

Why must I be taunted with this.....

That was dusterbd13 and driveabeater.
Yeah...it's kindof like turning the leaf spring rear into a poor-man's trailing arm setup. I like it. I like it a lot. Toss on a panhard or watt's linkage for additional sideways stability and you'd have the best thing since....well, IRS.
Edit: actually better, for things like drag racing, where you it's tough to completely eliminate squat with IRS.
This may not be happening now.... apparently he forgot he promised a buddy 2-3 years ago that he would sell it to him if he ever got rid of it, and he was reminded of that yesterday by said buddy when he was talking about trailering it up to me.
Buuuuut... i always have my eye out for these trucks, and the motor swap itself is a weekend affair either way, so it's still great info.
SWMBO is a little relieved, though she won't admit it. We currently have 6 cars in the household, and this would have been a pain.
Strangely.... for being a Toyota fanboy, it's weird that i was on the verge of owning 6 Mazdas at once.
I cant remember if it was on the original drivabeater, or on the duster. both were leaves.
but yeah, ill see if I can dig up my research....
