At our local SCCV event today. He also runs an open wheel Maserati powered ice racer.

Thought some on here might like this.

Ask if it has more than 50k miles. Few do.

I was going to say something smart assy about the interior, but I'm so surprised to see it running under its own power it gets a racecar pass.

Open wheel ice racer though? That sounds like dangerous fun.

That appears to be a seriously prepared piece.

Please ask him for more details. Or even better - ask him to join here & post about it!

There is a certain magazine that could do a article about a race car made out of a notorious non-running automobile. Just sayin'.

I notice there isn't OEM gauges in place... could just be that he didn't like them... right?

There is one running chumpcar reliably as well.

I've read about that guy somewhere. It's actually a Citreon SM.

I spent some time talking to those guys at Watkins Glen, it sounds like they've got it reasonably sorted.. I was quite impressed. Almost makes me want to try one.

I am a personal friend of Dave and witnessed the development of the cars.

His present toy is a mid/rear engine tube frame car with another Maserati engine. He has been running it at the SCCV events but it broke the rear suspension at the Edinburg event a couple weeks ago so he brought the Bi-Turbo

See the article posted by Woody.

I forgot to mention that the BT is a track day car and has lots of miles.

Dave has been privy to some performance parts like the intercooler kit.

The Biturbo doesn't get much love, but I really dig the later variants based on that chassis.

The Ghibli Cup is on my list of "affordable" dream cars ... that will be unaffordable by the time I get around to buying one. It's like the E30 M3 to the Biturbo's 325is.

That's an Evoluzione in the pic. The regular ones looked really clean.

Then there was the earlier Shamal, with a V8 engine. A bit fussier looking than the Ghibli Cup, but still totally badass.

I looked at Ghibili's few months ago on the internets to see how was the pricing. They're anything but affordable....

So, how much power can an otherwise stock motor make on e85?

It would be important to know.

I actually suggested he check out the magazine and he said he'd heard of it. I told him I wanted to share photos on the forum as proof that they can be made to work, and work well. Unfortunately for me we were in the same run group so no moving photos.

Chuck Norris once peed in the gas tank of a Maserati Biturbo...

Considering the prices of the E30 M3 and Porsche 964 these days, the Ghibli isn't so crazy. In Europe, you can still find them for 25-30k Euros all day long.

Here's one for 10k Euros: https://motosporting.car.gr/cars/view/9691621/

Still waiting for someone to do a true "Mazdarati" conversion. Like wankel+biturbo. Make it a triturbo.
