And dirt cheap, with all the 2000-2001 maximas in the junkyards these days. I'm trying to convince a buddy with a DSP 1995 maxima to sell it to me for challenge price, which is more than its blue-book. Car already has Hoosiers on some steelies, and is a fast autocrosser. $500 engine swap and it'll run in the high 13s too :) Alternately, I'v thought an older maxima would be a great LeMons choice.....fast, can handle, bulletproof engine and tranny, and big enough to take a few hits..

Chump Car campaigning a Maxima has crossed my mind quite a bit. I used to own a '95 5spd. I called it my poor man's BMW. I wasn't far off back then.

Irish, since you're knowledgeable about Maximas what parts break when they are tracked? I'm assuming that in stock form they can cool, oil, and generally maintain a healthy state in stock/well maintained form when used for track events. Is that true as well?

Do you know of any bolt in roll cages for Maximas?

Some quick googling answered my questions.

Lemons thread on Maximas.

Keep in mind too that bolt in cages aren't really that smiled upon in Lemons any more. They need quite a bit of modification to pass tech. I don't know about Chump Car.
