My Mazda 1.8 V6 has developed a leak at the coolant housing which holds the pressure cap. I removed the housing and believe the culprit is the ring seal. However, I am unable to get the correct part from anyone. No one lists a part. I have a buyer for the car but cannot sell it until I fix this problem. Any and all help would be appreciated.

That is not where my leak is. Mine is leaking from where the fitting which holds the pressure cap bolts up to the fitting on the coolant hose.

Think cap, neck, housing with two bolts holding it together.

I've got a feeler out to a couple people man.

If you could take a picture just so i know i'm thinking about the right thing, that'd be great. I should be able to pull it out of a junkyard if i have to and mail it out to you.

Thanks!

(EDIT) As a matter of fact... i'll just ask if a BG chassis radiator can be swapped in as well. I have a brand new spare here.

I will take a picture this weekend, but it is the fitting that hold the radiator cap. On the 1.8 V. the cap is on a two-piece fitting with coolant lines on both side. It is the fitting which is leaking where the two pieces join. There is an o-ring seal, but no one shows this or the fitting in their parts systems.

Here is a pic. Not my car, but same setup.

Oh hell, that's not what i had in mind at all.

I'll be at the junkyard in the next few days. There's two V6 MX3s there, i'll pull both of them if they're there and send them out to you.

Will also link this thread to a few other forums.

All I need is the ring seal that seals the two pieces of the housing. Someone must know what I am talking about.

If all you need is an o-ring take the housing into your nearest hardware store and start matching things up. Ace, true value, etc.

It's cool but I don't get it. I know you could rev it to the moon but what benefit would a 1.8 V6 have over a 1.8 I4?

You can't replace the 1.8L L4 with a 2.5L V6 without a parts car ;)

John has hit the proverbial nail on the head.

Moparman, i'll be at the junkyard next dry day we have.

Thanks. I'll try the hardware store route as well.

what benefit does a 1.5 or 2.6L V-12 have over an identically-sized I-4?

How about a 1.5L V16?

Sounds amazing.
