Silly question, and you may have answered it somewhere between pages 9-15, but at 5'10" how far back do you have the seat? Is there enough legroom to fit a similarly tall adult in the back seat for any distance? If it can fit 4 6' tall adults, then it remains an option, otherwise...

I'm 5'11" and with the seat adjusted like I like it I still have enough room in front to swing my knees under the column without them hitting anything. It's a roomy driving position. If I climb in back I have 2-3 inches between my knees and the back of the seat. I wouldn't mind riding back there for an hour or two but it might not be everyone's cup of tea. Seats are quite flat and upright in back. Tons of shoulder room for two though. I'm continually surprised at the width in the back seat.
In other news, I finally got to drive the deuce for the first time in two months today. That little car made me very happy. Still needs more roll stiffness though.

Those look great! I have a black 2 as well and I look those rock.
All you touring folks, where is the fog light switch? I keep thinking that I want to add some auxiliary lighting and it seems that using the existing wiring might work best. Buy a switch, tap into the fog light wires already there, build a bracket.... Instant rally car!

This one is on the same stalk as the headlamps. I'm sure you could fit something in where the traction button is since it looks like they anticipated other buttons there.
Glad to see this thread is still alive...testament to the popularity of these cars. So much zoom-zoom!
Figured y'all might want to take a peak at something we just finished up.
Details will be in an upcoming issue of GRM where we spill the beans on the X-Design parametric header design process that Burns Stainless offers for third-party fabricators. I'll save the details for the story, but have to give shout outs to Laivins Race Cars for the fab work, and Mike Allen at Mazda Motorsports for digging up cam specs for the 2.
Here's the final product:
That's a thing of beauty. I've been watching it take shape on your FB page and it's quite exciting. Can't wait to see the dyno sheets after you have it tuned.
Speaking of tuning, I saw that you had your rev limit raised to 7k. The biggest driveability issue I have with the 2 is the space between the 1-2 shift and it seems that raising the rev limit like you did would solve that. My only concern is something going pop with it reving that high. I can calculate the piston speed at each RPM, but I can't seem to find any good info about what the guts of the engine are so I can make an educated guess about whether I'm going to grenade the thing at 7K. I assume you've thought all this out and was wondering if you had any insight.
Looking forward to seeing your results at nationals by the way. A lot of us 2 drivers are pulling for you.
Joe @ Dynotronics is the tuner. He has his own 2 that he has done a bunch of testing on and that's where the raised # came from. I have also heard independently from some racers in Europe that the valve springs are good to 7000, and that's usually the bottleneck (well, that and piston speeds).
He quoted be a nice price on the reflash for my mazda5, can't wait for it to be out of warranty so I can do it. The 1-2 shift feels all wron how it is now.

Yeah but I'm "luckily" going to burn through my 36,000 mile warranty by winters end 2013...
I think life will be more interesting with the 2 if I just treat the car like its a 30 year old Rabbit that I paid $800 for and ignore any pretense of a warranty.
In reply to mazdeuce:
Well I did buy it for the serviceability and cost to own, its a new car that you can actually fit a wrench underneath the hood without a sea of plastic covers, seems pretty rare lol.

I actually drive a 800$ rabbit a lot of days so that I understand. I test drove a 2 while the 5 was getting serviced two weeks ago and it was ok; they only had autos on the lot but I like the tossability.
Tonight was "Import Night" at the Downers Grove, Illinois' Friday Night Car Show. Lots of British stuff and 1 240Z and 1 510. This guy (dealer) has advertised this car on ebay for $75,000 and said it's not really for sale. He (service advisor) said Mazda has helped them build parts of this car for them. He stated a real high HP number but I believe he really didn't know.

That's the Mazdaspeed2 that they put together and ran at One Lap maybe? My brain wants to say that they had trouble keeping the spinny joints and such alive with that power. Interesting car, thanks for the pics.

Yeah he told me they ran that. The seats were pretty cool.
In reply to mazdeuce:
Autobarn Mazda...now CJ Wilson Mazda. Eric Vates is probably who brought it out since he masterminded the build. Teething problems at One Lap included cv joint boots self-destructing due to clearance issues, a blown motor at CMP, and then brake line problems. They missed a couple of stops as a result, but the car was fast at the hands of pro driver Charles Espenlaub. They won the (un)coveted Diamond Jim Brady award after the event, given to the team that gets the least from the most.
Speed3 drivetrain in a 2.
Car was later wrapped in the new graphics and displayed at SEMA last Fall. Garnered a lot of attention and media.
Hmm, Sport(cheap) or Touring(cruise control)...

The only thing you'll miss is cruise. Wish it was plug and play. It's not. If I could change one thing........
I did my first ever auto-x in the 2 today. I think it went well. Back at it tomorrow.

Yeah, If I'm making payments, I'll be damned sure It has my wish list. CC, power windows, power locks.
Brought the 2 to the dealer for it's first oil change (being free and all) last Saturday. I got a laugh when the salesman I've dealt with for years there came running out drooling over the 2 & saying that he couldn't believe how good someone could make the car look. Even had a bunch of the service guys out there checking it out. Never thought this thing would pull so much reaction.

Hey, how are you liking the S.Drives? (I didn't already ask, did it?) I still haven't replaced my OEM tires with anything decent. The S.Drives are cheap and on a car this light, I'm hoping they'll handle ok.

So far I've only put about 100 highway miles & some minor city driving. Have done very little spirited driving but the feel is much better than the OEs. No wet driving yet. I feel they may be loud down the line like the AVS ES100. You can hear some road noise a city speeds but it's drowned out easily between the stereo & muffler.
