Hello guys.

Just seen this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpJ-w4Z3JvY

It'll mechanically block your gear lever if revs are too high. How does it work?

It looks like it's a hydraulic piston with electronically controlled valves, if the computer determines a shift isn't safe it closes a valve so that the shifter can't be pushed toward the gear that would be dangerous, you'd just be trying to pressurize a closed hydraulic cylinder.

Curiously it looks like it only works on sequential shifters and only prevents downshifts by pushing forward (edit: Or at least in one direction, it can be flipped around), but with some modifications a bidirectional version could be made that works on H-pattern shifters.

Bosch has a rev limiter rotor for some cars , well it's for a 70s VW bus so it fits lots of cars ,

still not going to save you if you downshift when you planned to upshift !
