Sooooo . . . been enjoying the warm, top down weather in Michigan. Parked the Miata in the garage last night when it was in the low 70's, forgot to put the top up and woke up this a.m. to 31 degree weather and a very stiff and contracted soft-top. No way its closing right now. I've opened it up as far as it will go, rolled up the windows and parked it in the sun. Anything else I can do to get the top to close? Had plans for the car later this afternoon.
Warm it with a blowdryer?
Find an indoor heated garage? Not much else you can do, really. The danger is the plastic rear window if you have one.
Start it up and turn the heater on high with the top closed as far as it can?
Or man up and drive with the top down.
Put your helmet on and drive it.
Luckily, a couple hours in the sun did the trick. Thanks!
(EDIT: Clearly, I would have just manned up and driven it, but my wife needs it later, so luckily the sun relaxed it enough to get it closed)
