That may be be true but it is hard to spend $2500 plus paint and mounting equipment on a car only worth twice that in the end.

How do you think i'm going to feel once i get a hardtop on my 93?
Touche sir. However, it is easier for me to justify an $800 dollar top on a $1600 car vs the $3000 top on a $6000 car. I realize the percentages are the same but the pain is way more.
I will retract my endorsement for top-up driving with the crazy mounts. They are super at reducing driveline movement, but the top traps too much of the noise and you really get punished by the resonance. With the top down most of the time, I think it's great.
Got it thanks Alan! The 93 will get the hardest ones I can Find so I guess I'll get my jollies either way.
you're welcome to try my car if I'm in the area, I may came to the first Indy rallycross.
edit: just kidding, that was last weekend.
I ordered mounts.
I think I have diff fluid left from changing the fluid ohhh... 1500 miles ago, so that's taken care of.
Am I going to destroy the axle seals and just plan on replacing them?
Also: any super awesome tips for doing the diff mounts?
Got a list of things to do, Probably going to have to do it all on next friday night, car gets dyno'd next saturday.
Rebuild shifter/replace boots.
Replace diff mounts.
Replace motor mounts.
Replace valve cover gasket.
Replace exhaust manifold gasket.
Replace turbo studs with Iconel studs.
Change oil.
Assuming I'm a halfway competent wrench with all the tools known to man and a lift, how much time am I looking at?
So if I start work at 4pm after working a 10 hour day I should be able to have it done by midnight in time to get home around 1 then sleep until leaving at 6 to make the 2 hour drive to the dyno?
I'm down. Sounds fun.

Didn't know they made such things. I don't envy the machinist that cut them.

Reserve a whole day, you'll need it if everything doesn't go perfectly:
Rebuild shifter/replace boots. - 1 Hr
Replace diff mounts. - 2 Hrs
Replace motor mounts. - 1 Hr
Replace valve cover gasket. - .5 Hr
Replace exhaust manifold gasket. - 1.5 Hr*
Replace turbo studs with Iconel studs. - 2 Hr**
Change oil. - .5 Hr
*Studs will will back out of the head before the nut moves if there's any corrosion at all. One will interfere with the manifold if that happens. New factory studs & nuts help for the reinstall.
** Good luck removing the 8mm steel studs. Use resbond on the new ones if you can get it. Torque evenly and use stage 8 lockers. Don't forget new hardware for the downpipe flange too.
Diff Bushings without a press - find a socket with the same O.D. as the bushing. Block the ear in a stable position and bang the old bushing out with the socket and a 5 lb sledge. Go slow, keep it straight and it'll pop right out.
Good Luck!
If i have a way to remove the diff bushings without completely removing the diff, how much time does that save me?
Honestly i was concerned with the motor mounts taking longer than that, but i suppose it's way easier if i already have the exhaust manifold off, yes?
