Pain for the belts on the mrs. Thats about it tho.
and when u drain the oil on a bpxsrer it has the same sound as a drunk girl peeing in the woods. Also takes a ton of oil compared to the jap cars. And everything is gotten from underneath. Easy with a lift.
ill trade u my miata for an mrs btw.

Pain for what belts on the mr2? The 2 minute serp or the timing chain?
The serp. Sucked the only one I did, nut the tensioner was a little stiff. Then next week he had a rod through the block. Ive seen many a 1zz with thrown rods.

Funny, the sound of a car having it's oil drained never swayed me either way. No offense, but knock off the way too over the top girl stuff.. It's an attitude we do not need here.
Back on topic, I think I am leaning towards the MR-S. I know I almost bought one back in 1999 when I got my Hyundai Tiburon, but I needed the hatchback at that time.
I think the rod knock/poke through the block is an oil baffling problem. A local racer spun a rod bearing in his at a tour event that had some long high grip sweepers. Supposedly there is an aftermarket oil pan or an add on baffle that helps with the issue, but he couldn't use it in stock class.
I'd rock one in a heartbeat though.
Yeah, You can get a moroso oil pan to fix that problem. I'm keeping my eye out for one. I miss having a convertible. My SW20 just doesn't do it for me like the miata did. Just haven't seen a manual one in good shape. A lot of SMG's coming available. They never seem to come up locally.

Dont run zz motors low on oil when youre pulling a g for extended periods of time at high revs, or run the moroso pan. close coupled cats can break up, swap a header on there or better yet turbo manifold
MRS, it's like the pro version of the 80s AW11 MR2. It's lighter and more powerful than that car and has massive potential with mods if you turbo or do a 2zz swap it would be like a cheap Elise.
If you ever liked the AW11 MR2 and want a modern version buy the MRS. Whats crazy is that either car are ridiculously cheap. I've seed AW11s for $1500 and MRS for $6000 both in good conditions. In fact there is one of each in that price range in Las Vegas right now on craigslist.
$6000 MRS

$1500 MR2

I'm actually going to try and check the 2nd car out this week probably.
All 3 MR2s are actually ridiculously cheap. They are almost like forgotten cars.

When does the turbo spool in on such a turbo on such a small engine? Curious because I am kind of intersted in doing something like that on either a MRS or AW11.
Where would you put an intercooler in such a car? I don't imagine the engine bay having much space.
I've always wanted an MR2 or MRS. FWIW, I'm 6'1" and 235# and the MRS is comfy on testdrives, the Miata is doable but in a wearable sort of way. The NA seems to have the most room to me, but still not as good as the MRS.
so.. how hard is it to drop the drivetrain on the MR-S? I don;t own a lift

A gt28rs would spool pretty damn quick on a high-compression, good-flowing 1.8L.

Full boost @ about 3000 rpm with the disco potato (garrett gt28rs). Intercooler is by the back bumper, mounted low with a scoop, works well, doesnt soak, no issues, no matter how hard or long the session in my experience. This pic is mocked up, (I replaced all the rubber with samco silicone before reinstalling). Next mission is to relocate that filter in a nice, clean, cold box. I havent tried the meth spray setup i fabbed yet, might be good, who knows?

As far as dropping the engine, easy, just pick the car up and roll it away, leaving the drivetrain and rear suspension behind. An afternoon job.
