I'm guessing you're in Austin? There are two pretty good Spec Miata places near you. They should be able to help you out with looking over the car AFTER YOU BUY IT! It's too good a deal to pass up. Otherwise, tell me where it's at, and I'll have my dad in Blanco go buy it for me!

One is right there in Austin- Applied Racing Technology Karl Zimmermann or Ed Gilfus 512 707-8869 115 East Saint Elmo Road Suite A Austin, TX 78745

I believe there's another group that's at Motorsports Ranch in Cresson as well, but the name escapes me, and I havn't found the right keywords for google to find them either.

I'd have bought it in a heartbeat over my FC3S if it were in MA. Even old Miatas go for easily over $2000 here.

Miatas are super-easy to work on for the most part. If there are a few other things that need repair, they're probably not hard to fix. Your radiator will be a stupid-easy job. It took me 3 hours to figure out how to release the stupid clips that hold the radiator in my Z3. By that time, I could have replaced my Miata radiator 6 times.

Does anyone have any experience with actually doing the rust repair themselves? Or, if you had a shop do it, what did they charge you? It seems I have that problem as well.

ya i live up in ma too, and ive been finding anything with a good body is going for at least 2k, anything under just has to much rust that i dont want to deal with... though there was a 99 on the cape with a almost mint body cause it was originally a southern car that needed a head gasket for 1500, but the lady wouldnt hold it for me so i told her i was coming to get it, but she said another guy was already on her way soo that one didnt work out either...

I've seen rebilder NB Miata's cheap. Around here there was a 99 with 100K that was a little ratty (needed a top, some paint TLC, Seat Covers and a good cleaning, but ran great). Sold for $3600.

Congrats on the '97 man! You'll like it better than teh '90. You've got a bigger engine, bigger brakes, and the better rear end. Did it come with a Torsen diff? Do you know?

What's wrong with it that you won't be able to have it running until April?

ya im happy with it, ill be spending afternoons in the barn with it. nothing is wrong with it except my wallet. passed inspection back and june and was driven to my house on highway. it just needs to be cleaned and touched up. good scrub, buff, pull some dents, a little touch up paint and a little body work too. but itll look good with a little elbow grease, just it took a chunk out of my wallet and i ended up digging into college money that i need to put back before i put it on the road. unfortunately its been bout -7 everymorning ive woken up, so rolling it out and working on it in the driveway and cleaning it isnt much of and option seeing the driveway also has an inch and a half of ice on it...
