And one more to provide the scale: Clearly a Chevy Colorado or a Tacoma are not mini trucks at all.

Sooooo....would one of those Red Bull MINI Coopers be a mini truck.......and would one be welcome in the pickup truck class at the next Challenge? Hmmmm?

In reply to DeadSkunk:

Pickup Truck Class allows El Camino (a factory conversion of a wagon to a pickup) as well as would allow a sedan that was self converted to a pickup.

Bring a WRX converted to a ute or a Red Bull Mini Cooper. All welcome.
Also welcome is a G-body coupe that clearly looks like a Ford F-150.

Just make sure that a casual observer would recognize it as a pick up truck.

A 1uz toyota mini truck have always been a want.

Same with a vg30dett hardbody Nissan. Doubt it fits though.

IMO practically every vehicle looks better as a ute:

Probably my fault. Once I post, a thread goes all to hell.

according to the web and people I was involved with when I was into the Hyundai Scene, there were quite a few "coupe utility" Ponies in Canada.

Interesting to note, they were RWD and used the 4g series of mitsu engines, the 4G62, 63, and 66. I hope that means the 4G63t fits?

Finding pictures of cool Isuzus is tough.

Datsuns are much better.

Wheras Toyotas seem to either be ultra slammed or off road I like off road.

This thread makes me extremely happy!

Guy in the Courier group on Facebook pulled a Datsun out of a field the other day, here's the pair of his trucks now.. Color me jealous.

Here's my Courier tucked in between a few full size trucks last summer

I was the airbagged body dropped shaved door handles minitruck guy in prior decades, but I also always preferred the clean builds over body kits and airbrush craziness.

As I've aged I still love old trucks, but have thoughts about building one geared more towards performance. The simple lines on a lot of the 80's trucks look surprisingly good today.

I don't know if it's possible to call it a "resurgence" for something that has passed on in terms of production in that no new small trucks have been built/sold here for a long time, and no... the new colorado does not count. Park it next to an '87 S-10 and call the new truck a "minitruck" with a straight face.

In reply to mad_machine:

Trust me. Nobody in Canada was into the Hyundai stuff more than I was (factory sponsored) in that era, and they were never available here, and I never saw a single one. The Pony used Hyundai's version of the 4G31 (1.4 8V) and 4G32 (1.6 8V). When Mitsu built them, they (Lancer/Plymouth Arrow) came with the 1.6, 2.0 and 2.6/5 spd. called the Fire Arrow. Sweet rides.
