Good color. I had a 73 Challenger that was that color ("Sublime", officially). I like it enough that I just painted a mountain bike in it:

I disagree on that color not working on a BMW. It has to be the right BMW. I think it would work on a 2002 or E21.
Now you have me rethinking my color choice for repaint of my next project, I tend towards subdude colors normally but a "skittles" car might be fun.

Yes, heated garage. But the snow is making it difficult because I didnt want to roll the stripped body out there so Im having to get creative and work around it. Just means I have to do a few parts at a time instead of everything at once.
Got everything done but the front clip, need to reshoot the hood because I bumped the garage door opener when painting the rear clip and knocked a bunch of dead bugs down on to the table below.
A little more orange peel in it than I'd like but it will do for a DD. Might play with the gun settings a bit for the front clip and see if I can get it to lay out better.

Yes sorry, I meant it would look like hell on my E46 wagon, some BMWs could carry it well

Cars are supposed to be fun, their colors should be too! I get sick of all the different varieties of beige on cars these days, I miss the bright vivid colors of the 50s and 60s

AMEN to that!

Not that I know the first berkeleying thing about how to paint a car (believe it or not, the spraying IS always the hard part for me,) but I've seen George do AMAZING things wetsanding and buffing. It appears to me as though that's where the magic happens.

Absolutely, I could cut and buff this out to a mirror shine, I just dont know if I'll bother with the effort on a daily driver that is going to be a 16 year olds first car. Odds are I will be repainting it again in the future.
I may change my mind once the panels are mounted. I have a few dry spots and one sag that might drive me crazy if I dont sand them out. But the panels are so floppy off the car that I cant really do any good sanding on them.
Everything is shot now, just kickin back with an adult beverage and letting paint cure now.
mad_machine wrote: nice that you can paint the car.. off of the car
It definitely cuts down on the masking work and lets you position parts in ways to get easier access. Its also nice because you can do a panel at a time and not stress keeping a wet edge the whole way around the car.
The only drawback is they are so flexible it makes the prep work harder. If I were to do it again I'd do all the sanding and prep before I removed them from the car.

Do you mean in reference to doing an AAR cuda stripe? That was suggested by a friend over on FB and is under consideration.
The flat black hood could be a good touch as well. The humor coming from how small the hood really is (and it does not really serve as a hood.)
Replicas for $189 complete with the Cuda part

This has a nice picture of what the stripes look like.
Also on this website they sell a reflective version. Reflective could be a good idea for your daughter's car. Visibility is never a bad thing, especially when small. Get some of that black that reflects as white!
I actually have reflective vinyl here so maybe I will use that if I decide to do the stripes. Still waiting to get it all together so I can step back and look at it and see how it speaks to me.
I think maybe just replicate the 'cuda front fender piece. Start at the Smart's front fender light and run along that body ridge covering the door.
Or, go from headlight to door handle staying up against mirror/window trim.
