My 1990 LX has BBK short tube headers installed. When that was done it appears the attachment point for oil dipstick no longer exists. The tube is just free floating and basically flopping around.
As this is new to me I am guessing the standard attachment point is the standard exhaust manifold.
So my options appear to be use one of the valve cover bolts, the header bolts or clamp it (somehow) to the header tube.
Thoughts???

I ended up mounting it to one of the header studs, if I remember correctly. I haven't had a FOX based car in at least 10 years, so I don't think I have any good pictures.
While I agree that it would be best to brace it, I had a set of Heddman shorties on three different 302 blocks in my 79 panther LTD. I just left the dipstick tube free standing, it was not a problem over ten years and 80k miles.
Go to the hardware store and buy a section of steel tubing and cut it down to the width of the exhaust manifold. Then use one of the old manifold bolts through the dipstick tab, into the metal tube and screw it into the head at the spot it all lines up. I tried looking for a picture, but the internet wants to sell me dipsticks.
It's been nearly 20 years since I played with Fox bodies, but I don't remember the dipstick flopping around on mine. I had shorty headers, BBK, I think? There was a bracket of some kind on them.

Your choice, of course, but I wouldn't in that car... (pound kerbs... fun to drive anything fastly, but smashing kerbs in that thing is elder abuse).
Just looked at mine. I'm running aluminum heads and long tubes, but I think it might be the OE dipstick.
It is secured with the header bolt
I eliminated mine with a cup plug in the block.
In reply to Cooper_Tired :
The dip stick in mine is identical.
I will see if I can mount it that way tonight

Yeaaah, I retract my "ignore it, you'll be fine" reply. Have fun!

Update: I simply bent the bracket on the dipstick tube and use one of the header bolts.
