I've mentioned working up in ga for a bit; mostly a 40 hour / week gig... not used to that kinda time off, while on a job. But it's  relatively hard work, so I need more relax time, than in my younger days!

And been getting a bit of overtime, so that's good for digging out of the hole current circumstances helped me dig!

Also, the good / bad news, is it does look like I'll be on this one for the winter - or longer. surprise

Got to come home for a couple days early for Christmas, so that's good.
Drove my wife to an appointment today; the Sunday Car is the only suitable DD we have at the moment. Fortunately the '94 Roadmaster (her aunt was original owner) is doing good. Well, Ish.
So, since I was not able to find anyone with a beater they could let me have for cheap (I'm even too broke for grass roots!) I thought of something today:

Is there anyone on here not too terribly far for Dothan AL, that might be able to do some deferred maintenance on a 125K LT1, since I just simply do not have the chance?

I haven't bought any parts yet, but could order the stuff needed.
I does have a lifter (or two) that is slow to pump up, and the slight stumble might be just spark plugs. Optispark, so... (at least it's a vented one)

and either intake or valve cover is leaking oil on engine, and the fumes get a bit strong inside. Visual check shows no oil leak, so I'm leaning towards intake.
Anyway, I don't mind paying a bit for this work, but 99% of the shops I've ever dealt with, I would not allow their €#%* beaters on an LT1, so I'd live to have some attention to details type from here on it!

If anyone has any thoughts, or can help, that would be awesome.

If it would help, I can dig out my 95 B-Body gm shop manuals and send them to you. When you're done with them/the car just pass them along to someone in the GRM family.

I knew a guy in Dothan but it's been 20 years.  He took care of me but I heard stories from others that weren't so great.  So basically I'm no help.

They would be great to have. I'll dm ya.
Also, on buying parts, I'm completely open to suggestions. Like many, I was totally comfortable with gen 1, and have learned ls and other even more modern. But the LT1 was so short lived, and had some quirks.
I know Curtis knows them well; glad to hear you have the books - assume you have good advice as well!

Yea, that's been my experience with most. It's really sad. Time is money, and shortcuts = time. Doesn't really mix well with attention to detail.

To any LT1 gurus (I'm looking at you, Curtis) I do have some parts questions.
I know it needs Intake gaskets, valve cover gaskets, and lifters.
This car will be with my wife, for sentimental reasons, a very long time.
I would love to run a better quality lifter, and heard some ls stuff is an upgrade. But conflicting info. I want the best bang for a buck. If that's Chinese eBay, or stock or... don't mind spending a bit more that stock replacement, but, well, it ain't ever gonna race!!!

That opens the question on rocker arms... stock ratio, or... (puts flame suit on)
