Anyone know where to find the markings and what the marking mean on the seventies era Motorcraft two barrel carbs?

I have one in pretty nice external condition and would like to pick up a re-build kit for it, make it right inside and out.

Any help in determining the year and application would be appreciated ! !

Thanks,

TC

The number is usually along the drivers side of the base.

Ford always screwed tags on with one of the top cover screws. If its gone, you can't be exact, but it really doesn't matter too much from a rebuilding standpoint. The kit manufacturers have really cut down the number of different kits they put together, and now make one that will generally have all the different possibilities of gaskets in one.

Followup question: Why do you want a Motorcraft 2bbl carb? If you have an engine with a carb already on it, you are probably way farther ahead to rebuild that one, so you have all the right jets and linkages and so on. The only big trouble I've seen with one of them is a stiff throttle shaft or worn bushings that will hold the idle speed up at random times. Other than that, clean it up, put a new power valve in and go nuts.

Found it . . . 8WUR

Would that be the number?

Also found a casting that looks like a clock with 121 in the center, a number 30 on the horn, and 15 opposite the Motorcraft lettering on the top of the float bowl.

Any of these help with the year/model identification?

Thanks
