Hey Paul,
I'm not really having a problem fitting a rad into the Europa. I'm having a hard time fitting the rad I have into the stock location.
It hadn't ocurred to me that I could mount it back in the engine bay, that's what I love about this board. Thanks for the ideas.
Ahh.. Now I understand.
If you mount it in the rear, plan on building ductwork to direct the airflow. You need to direct the air both into it and out of it.

How's your build coming? Are the pics in your profile current?
I think we are pretty close.

In reply to SVreX:
Well the frame is done, the front suspension is rebuilt and reinstalled. The rear suspension is rebuilt and needs to be bolted back in. The only thing holding the rear suspension reinstall up is my buddy hasn't quite finished adapting the Toyota 4AGE to the Renault transaxle. It should be done and back together this week. Then I need to drop the body back on and get rolling on that. I've cleaned up and painted the underside of the body, the engine bay and the interior. I've spent the last week or so just working on bits and peices like the seats and dual master setup until the engine and transaxle come back. I've rebuilt the firewall and the fuel tank as well.
I've set up a Photobucket account at the address below. It's a bit out of date but I'll update it this week.

Are you trying to build for the Challenge?

Nice photos. Looks like we are chasing several of the exact same ideas.
Why is the adapter plate so thick?

I was planning on it originally but I don't know if I can keep it under budget. I have a ton of spare parts that came with the car. If I sell whatever is left over I may be able to come in at $2010. My plan is to run it, this summer, in some local autocrosses and Solo Sprint. I'll have to find a set of used tires and remove some of the more expensive bits before I come down.

I spoke to a few guys who've already built an adapter plate and they used 3/4" aluminum so we just copied what they did. Drop me a note offline if you need any specific info.

No offense, just an observation:
I don't think that I've ever heard an American citizen use the word "rad" to describe a radiator.
Carry on.
Woody,
I'm typing this response whilst sitting on my chesterfield, my Wife is contemplating a new room colour and my Daughter is getting ready to head to the shopping centre to take advantage of the Boxing Day sales.
But can you write a cheque to cover your tyre bill? And will those tyres clear the wings?
I can almost speak Commonwealth..my first real car was a Triumph. Back when I was dating the English girl, she had a special aversion to people who called her wastecoat a "vest"...

air pockets in this config may be a problem causing overheating and restricting flow. i dont see any reason it wouldnt work, but some thought should be put into how your going to bleed out the air.

What happens to the air flow after he mounts a fender over that thing? How about once it's full of mud slinging off the tires?
