So even though I haven't sold my mazda 2 yet ( see for sale ad) I couldn't pass up a deal on an 06' Mazda 5.

Single owner , 5spd, 159k miles with maintenance records all for $2500.

Only real problems are the sunroof doesn't work and apparently the transmission fluid has never been changed.

Does anyone know if the sunroof is a common problem and if so is it the motor or a different part that fails?

Regarding the tranny fluid. Should I use what the owner manual recommends or is there something better out there that's more appropriate for the gearbox now that it has 159k miles of use on it?

I really like the 5. Almost wish I would have looked at these before getting my 2.

Thanks Dan

Really sorry Mazda chose to quit making them. I really like them also.

For the trans, we have had good service in our Mazda3 from Redline MT90, which meets the OEM GL4 spec, and improved the shift quality. When we tried a typical GL4/GL5 blend oil, there was a notable decrease in shift quality, so that was promptly changed back to MT90 and the good quality came back.

FYI, the 6 speed from the 2010+ models will bolt right in, no mods. We did it in our 07 Mazda3.
