Apparently that 10 speed auto is the same one that will be going in...the Raptor?...

Courtesy of R & T:

"GM says it will be in eight models by 2018. You can bet that includes the Silverado, Tahoe, and Escalade, as well as rear-wheel-drive cars like the Corvette and CTS. At Ford, look for it in regular F-150s as well as the next Lincoln Navigator and the next Mustang."

Lol there are more people complaining about the complainers than there are complainers.

Personally, I dig the styling. It just screams "f your preconceptions about what is socially acceptable and mature, I'm going to have a blast and do what I want."

Like giving a middle finger to all things sensible and practical...and boring.

No, but post after post of whining about a 640hp Camaro gets to me, especially when it's hot on the heels of post after post of whining about what the nose of the restyled FRS/86 looks like.

Sometimes the whining just gets to be too much. I want to read about cars not someone complaining about how this geegaw on the new super amazing pony car just doesn't look quite right.

I think pretty much all of the new Camaros are awesome. The last gen was half baked, save for the higher end models. This generation looks better, is packaged better, and offers impressive performance that was unheard of not too long ago. Man, I remember when the 4th gen SS's came out with around 300hp, and that was positively NUTS back then!

On the ZL1, the only thing I don't like is that rear spoiler. Looks like they took it off of a 1983 Firebird S/E. The rest of it is just fine.

I didn't say anything about it being a Chevrolet, so I don't know why you made that assumption. You'll find the same kind of thing in many high hp and or highend sports car threads here.....doesn't matter if it's Chevrolet, Ford, Porsche, etc, but make a thread on a minivan or Prius and hey 'two thumbs up'. You can also mention something like the FR-S being able to use a little more power and watch people stroke out lol.....fun stuff.

It has way more open area in the front for air to get to the coolers than in the Z06. Also, let's not forget that the new GT350 currently requires a track package to not have issues on a closed course. Motor Trend estimates the 0-60 to be 3.3 seconds with the automatic, and the price to be as low as $60k. To put this into perspective, that's 169 horsepower more than an F40, 22 more horsepower than a McLaren F1, and only 11 less horsepower than an Enzo. Let's face it: We've never had it so good.

Where did you hear that? I don't know why anyone would buy one without the package because it comes with the Magneride shocks (and if you're buying a GT350 then you can probably afford the option), but have not seen anything that says that the additional cooling is required. Of course, if you are going to race one then if would be a no-brainer to have the package. Heck, the Vettes had to have a special package from GM to race against the Vipers in SCCA T1.

No matter. This is all just a win-win for us. Chevy one ups Ford. Ford returns the favor. Chevy does likewise and on and on. The public gets amazing cars. I had a 1969 Dodge Charger with a 440 and a new V-6 Camaro or Mustang would blow it away in every category. Times are good.

I am sure it will be an awesome car to drive and the best thing is that if you are driving it you don't have to look at it.

Seriously they beat that thing with the ugly stick.

Are we sure this is for the GT350 or just the GT?

The GT needs the Track Pack to get the extra coolers.

EDIT, just went and checked. Yep, engine/trans/diff coolers on the track pack for the GT350. But if you were going to buy it for that purpose, that would be a given to do that anyway.

Rear diff broke. If you watch it in slow-mo, the rear wheels completely lock up basically instantaneously, from which there was no recovery. I wonder if it has a real torsen-type LSD or if it's another of those stupid "e-diff" things?

While I agree that the Camaros styling in general reminds me of what we would get if a Senior exec at GM asked his High School daughter what she thought would look cool if she were going to go take her friends to the mall, I also am floored by the performance that we are getting from the General (heck, from all of Detroit really). If I must sacrifice some visuals to get that kind of performance...well, it aint all about the show. That said, as big a GM fanboi as I am, I still prefer the new stang to the Camaro.

Overall, Im with the group who is happily surprised at the resurgence of the pony wars - I never thought The Spo-Com fad would give way back to the V8s, especially ones with track packages right out of the box. The big 3 losing their minds...and we are reaping all the benefits.

Just watched the video, there were 3 people in the car when the mishap happened, all with suits and HANS gear on. Impact must have pushed the fender back into the door as the driver had to get out and open the door on the passenger side, other than that the car seemed to hold up surprisingly well. Wonder how they decided who got to ride in the back?

I love the HP wars going on, but in my eyes, the Camaro has not just been touched by the ugly stick, bur rather had some Mustang-like episode where it has veered deep into the ugly forest.
