Less weight. More power. Yes, please. That’s the premise behind the new the latest Porsche 718 Spyder, the RS.

It uses the same powertrain as the 718 Cayman GT4 RS coupe. That consists of a 4-liter six-cylinder boxer engine paired with a short-ratio, seven-speed PDK transmission.

The engine puts out 493 horsepower and 331 lb.-ft. of torque, while revving to …

Don't know what to think.. . .It is a really cool car but at 160K I would always be thinking I should have got a 911

Valid point. $160,000 could get you into every 911 model up to the Carrera 4 GTS–excluding the Carbio and Targa, which start a $171,000. Turbos start at $197,200 and go up from there.

Front end looks like a more aggressive 360 stradale to me

Properly spec'd this is 180K and the addendum puts this over 220K from what I am hearing. Glad it is being made but if it is not completely sold out of allocations already I would be surprised.

Yes, you can get a 911 for the price.  However there's no car that has the natural balance and inspires confidence like a 718.  Hoping to see one up close very soon.

Porsche GT cars are always special and hold their value, devaluation isn't something that you need to worry about when you're considering the purchase price (relative to a 911 non-GT car, anyway). The Cayman GT4 RS is an assault on the senses and has been a natural hit, I'd expect the 718 Spyder RS to be just the same but even more visceral to the ears. It's likely going to be the last of its kind (500 hp N/A mid-engined roadsters weren't exactly common before) and it has no competition, really. The Weissach package is silly money, but I have to think it's a requirement here. For me, a normal 718 Spyder in silver with the Spyder Classic (red) interior and a six-speed would keep me happy forever.

Spyders are very cool cars, whereas the non-GT 911s are more pedestrian. And any of 718s handle better than the 911s, with the possible exception of the GT3 or GT2.
