Just picked up an '05 Acura TSX over the weekend.

It has some pulsing in the brakes which I assume to be "warped rotors" or worn caliper bushings (i.e., simple stuff). Dealer is under written contract to fix "to my satisfaction," so I feel like the open-endedness is grossly to my favor.

Unfortunately, it's an auto, but I must be getting old because I find myself not caring. The auto seems to work well, and I don't plan to "track" this one, anyway. There's a sequential "manual" shift if I really need it.

Otherwise, is there a decent support community out there? For adults?

It's just a fancy Accord. I have nothing else to add to the conversation.

IMO a fun accord though....

I am sure there is a TSX forum floating around there somewhere, hell I have seen CR-V forums so I am sure they exist.

Yeah, but they are based on the European/Japanese Accord which is far more fun to drive than an American Accord. In any case, they are economical, reliable incredibly fun to drive cars.

Incredibly fun, yes, (only due to the 6spd IMHO) reliable, so, so (several have had A/C issues, not a cheap fix) economical? Gave me 28.5 on average highway (70-85), TLS on same roads would give me 30.3 (and about the same 22.5 in the city)

Keep an eye on oil level, change the oil regularly or you'll be replacing chains/guides/tensioners, rear pads last about 25k miles, expect dash backlights to take a dump (integrated with stereo headunit).. those shoud about cover the major problems.

Fine by me. As said, though, the Euro Accord and with a higher "spec" to boot. Low on torque but plenty of oomph and agility for my tastes.

For that matter, I was on my way to looking at an '03 Accord EX with leather and the 3.0 V-6 which came out to about the same price. Walking into work this morning I passed more Accords of that vintage than I can count on one hand.

For real on the rear brake pads? I tend to get over 100K on my Honda/Acura rear brake pads.

the only rear pads I sell more than 04-08 TSX are 09-up TSX that have a TSB on them. It's not uncommon to see them in every 25-30k needing new pads and the front rotors so warped they could be used for rockers on a rocking chair in front of Cracker Barrel.

With that said, the 04-08 TSX is about the only hondar product that I would even be remotely interested in buying/owning, manual trans non-Navi only.

My only knowledge of TSX problems happened at my local Honda/Acura shop. I was dropping off my Civic for t-belt/w-pump and a guy pulls up in a TSX. Comes in and tells the shop owner "ya, both the heat and A/C aren't working." The shop owner's shoulders drop, he looks down and sighs. This guy's been fixing Honda/Acura exclusively for over 30 years, Honda certified on just about every model ever sold in America, and I could tell he was not looking forward to that job.

Grown men referring to their cars as "toys" (usually you see this on a personalize plate or in painted lettering on the trunk) ranks right up there with hearing people who should know better refer to their engines as "motors". Gawd. Good luck with the car though, post some pictures soon.

You forgot http://www.answers.com/topic/toys

If a "toy" is an unnecessary trifle, then most cars qualify.

Sure, the definitions have been dumbed down and blurred for the masses and I wouldn't expect those of you who got your educations from google to know the difference. I blame TV interviews from 1970's and 1980's with NASCAR racers, when asked what happened and why they were out of the race, they usually said, "Shoot, I dunno, the motor just blew!"

However, in general, a motor uses an external power source to produce motion, an engine produces its own power. Nice car by the way.

You forgot: "Git off my lawn" in your post. It would add to the grumpy old man demeanor in the rest of your post. Language evolves, and has since the dawn of time. That doesn't necessarily mean "dumbed down". But I digress.

From Princeton (U now, thet univarsity) http://wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?s=motor I mean, haven't they called it a "motorcar" since it's inception?

In any case, nice car!

Been through this debate before when I was on your side. Wish I could find it now, but I was wrong. An engine is a motor. But the vast majority of sources I can find at the moment go something like this:

"mo·tor (mōt′ər)

noun

1.anything that produces or imparts motion 2.an engine; esp., an internal-combustion engine for propelling a vehicle 3.motor vehicle 4.Elec. a machine for converting electric energy into mechanical energy Origin: L, a mover < motus, pp. of movere, move"

Then there's General Motors, Ford Motor Company, motor oil, motor vehicle, Honda Motor Company, etcc... I'm no fan, but are you sure it's NASCARS fault?

I've wanted a manual TSX since I saw the European Accord when I was over in Scotland a few years back. Nice pick!

i don't know anything about them, but at first glance it's a hell of a lot cooler than a U.S. -spec Accord.

Heck, using your logic I bet there are people driving on your driveway and parking on your parkways lol! Seriously, everything wrong can be blamed on NASCAR.

I wonder if the Editor of GrassrootsEnginesports might step in and resolve this issue.......or perhaps that great show EngineTrend?

Back on topic:

As with most Honda products, there are a host of potential forums out there.

tsxclub.com

tsx.acurazine.com

acuraworld.com

honda-tech.com

acura-tsx.com

superhonda.com

clubrsx.com

It's weird for me going from a car with almost no support to a car with too much.

Anyone with experience in any of these forums?
