Serious thread is serious.
My idea of cool rarely matches what other people think. Especially when I was 19. But I would get a Saab.

Forget the cool part. I can figure out what's cool or not. I'm asking about any and all coupes or sedans that have fold down rear seats. I know hatchbacks do, and I know wagons, SUV's and Minivans do. What I don't know, other than the few I'm aware of, are what 2 and 4 door three box cars have them. I'm talking about late model, fairly common cars.
Chevy Volt.
Mercedes C240/C320 Sport Coupe. (These are huge inside.)
BMW 318ti.
Honda Insight (2nd Gen) and Toyota Prius (at least 2nd and 3rd Gen).
GM F-Body, IIRC.
PT Cruiser.
Subaru Baja!
Actually, there are quite a few cars here. I should probably stop listing them

Sounds like you still own the SVT? Do you happen to know how much length it has between the front seats and the back? Will it hold something 57" long?
Yep, I've got the SVT still. Info here:

I'd be happy to measure it for you tonight, but I've already carried a bike with the front wheel still attached–I'm pretty sure a keyboard will fit.

Oh.
G35 Coupe. I've said bad things about mine, so at least learn the weaknesses. Probably too much power for a kid.
FRS OR BRZ
that shouldcover the cool factor. Plus they are getting under 20k on the used market. Few for $17 that I have seen.
Mazda6, 2004-2008 or so. Sedan has them. Or the 5 door hatchback for bonus points. I prefer to load my road bike into the hatch of the 6 rather than an SUV. Even available with a manual trans for more bonus points.
In reply to glueguy:
Yeah, manual trans is just short of a must have for him. I thought of the 6 hatchback, because I almost bought one. Are they very common compared to the sedan? I can't seem to find any for sale. I think if it had a manual trans, he'd even consider the wagon, as they are pretty cool looking and driving as far as wagons go.
EP3 Civic. 65" from hatch to passenger seat when pushed forward, lots more when passenger seat is folded. Great purchase value, easier to find unmolested than most Civics. 75k could be a problem but you know Hondas and this model runs forever.
I can take a pic of the passenger seat in but rears are in attic.

Wait... what? Why?
Just a carry-over from using off the shelf Impreza seats?
In reply to bmwbav:
Well I know Acura stopped doing it because it compromised NVH. They put an x-brace support through that area. I know this because that's what mine had, and my buddy that works for Honda told me why. I just don't know what other cars do or don't have them, and what size they are. Even my '65 Mustang has one, but the opening is only good for something the size of snow skis.
My 94 Integra GSR sedan had a fold down rear seat. Most people even thought it was a coupe...but try finding one unmolested these days.
In reply to tedium850:
I bought a GSR new in '94. It was a sedan as well. But like you said, try finding an unmolested one. My '03 TL-S had a fixed seat with a big brace behind it, although it did have a small pass-thru in the seat.
The only car I've ever owned that didn't have fold-down rear seats is my Miata -- and the reason for that should be obvious. :)
So I'd start with the list of what he considers "cool" (and fits other constraints like budget, reliability, etc), then google " rear seats fold down" to look for confirmation that they fold.

Don't know when they may have changed that but all the 1st generation Focuses had a fold-down rear seat (even my 2001 sedan). I have had packages over 48" long in mine. But because it is a sedan the package can't be more than a foot high.
