My '05 Scion xB came with a K&N Typhoon CAI. It's all well and good, and it probably helps up the mpgs. But I'm generally disinclined to K&N filters, especially as I live in a dusty, sandy desert.

Is there a way to find a paper cone filter that will fit? It's not handy, but I'd estimate the piping is around 65-70mm in diameter, if that helps.

Put the stock airbox back? Most of the time those type of things arent even as good as stock.

For the K&N, go to the restaurant supply, and get some hair nets.

Oil them up like you would a motocross bike filter, and install it over the cone filter. Change ocassionally. They'll catch all the fine stuff.

For paper, check the filter for the 06 GMC Canyon 4 cyl. It might fit.

The S2000 and Integra have paper cone filters that one could use in a universal application.

Second gen Neons have a filter that will clamp on roughly that diameter. Not really a cone- more tube.
