I have a Miata and if I still had a job, I would have a late 1980's 911 right now.

That's why I said "most," not "all."

But the fact is, the 912 LOOKED like a 911, and went like a stock VW Bug with added weight. So it worked very hard to keep up. Miatas, even the slowest, are much quicker AND they aren't the slow version of a faster car, so owners treat them different.

I like the idea of saving the porsche oily bits and slapping a subaru engine in. Then when its time for the 912 to move on just give the new owner the choice if they want the original engine. Judging by the Porscheru pictures from the build topic, there will probably be some sheetmetal cut so any hope of just replacing an engine to regain an original status is squander. But it just makes sense to throw the boobaru engine into it. OHHH the dichotomy!
