Great build !!
Great Challenge car and terrific graphics! This is what the Grassroots Motorsports Challenge is all about!
How/where did you get all those custom graphics done?
In reply to Danny Shields:
The graphics layouts were done by forum member GameboyRMH (who lives in the Carribean). He researched the original sponsors, captured their logos, and designed new versions.
The graphics was formatted for cutting and the vinyl was cut by forum member JThw8 (who lives in NJ).
The paint was done by me in GA.
The vinyl installation backer sheets and vinyl prep was done by my 11 year old daughter in GA.
The vinyl installation was started by me in Gainesville the day before the Challenge, then completed in the hotel parking lot the night before the event by about a half a dozen volunteers.
So, the "How/where" of the custom graphics work was a pretty big group effort.
The graphics work was a three-way triangle with Gameboy, JThw8 and me. Gameboy was the designer, JThw8 was production, and I was manager. They sorted out design problems, and I watched and gave final approvals.
It took about 200 emails. Not an exaggeration.
Jthw8 did some of the design work as well. The drivers' names & flags, number, "Dork" and the small text-only ones were all him. He did some hefty mods to the Shotgun and Amy stickers as well.
I love everything about this!
On a side note, wasn't there a limited edition in the UK that sported the Renown Livery as commemoration for the 24H win?
In reply to Mazda787b:
Based on you screen name, I'm pretty sure you would know much more about that than me!
T'was a glorious group effort, fueled by rum, not vodka. And 200 emails is not an exaggeration, I know the main thread topped 125 and we had 3 or 4 side threads running at one point or another. It was madness but the end result was so worth it :)
There have been questions about how does one go about getting copies of some of the stickers. I don't do printed vinyl just die cut so everything you see is vinyl layered on vinyl to make those images in multi color. A bit labor intensive. So if there was one in particular that everyone agreed on I might be persuaded to do a small batch run as a fund raiser for my local animal rescue but I wouldn't want to do large runs of randoms, they are quite time consuming.
Really, you did those the hard way? I would have never known. They look like prefect pro in person.
The idea and the way you changed Charge to Challenge is genius. I would have never thought of doing it that way. It works perfectly.
Bilstien changed to Shotgun lug nut removal is one of my favorites. Partially because it is a rather obscure reference.
Brembo changed to Swmbo is also a fav because it seems so exact to the original.
Well done to all.
