Anybody have an idea how much my sketchy old truck is worth?
1989 Dodge D350
5.9 non intercooled cummins
727 trans
Dana 70 with open diff and 3.07 gear
0 power options
Bad:
brakes sort of work most of the time
wiring is a nightmare
no tail lights/market lights/cab lights at the moment.
the dome light and dash light don't work either.
half of the gauges work
Front tires look new but are pretty untrustworthy no name all terrains that I got off craigslist for $75 after they sat for an unreasonable amount of time.
rear tires are completely bald
transmission won't keep fluid in it, probably something simple related to the cooler lines I'll fix before I actually sell it.
Horn doesn't work
Looks decent from a long distance but the body is actually pretty hideous
Good:
it runs
closest thing to a rust free Dodge Truck I've ever seen.

I might be talking out of my ass here but maybe $3k-$6k?
I don't know, but I do have a general idea of the Brodozer population and can give you selling advice:
-Figure out how much you want for it
-Post on craigslist for double that
-Wait 5 minutes
-When the flood of texts offering half your asking price arrives, tell them first come first serve
-Possibly witness a slappy fight in which flatbills and monster cans are the primary casualties
-Profit!
In reply to 92dxman:
$3k is the number I gave to the ratty Integra driving kid I work with that asked if I wanted to sell it. He seemed rather surprised that my number was that high. Though honestly I don't feel like it's worth selling if I can't get 3k out of it.
That is a $4-5k truck in Raleigh, NC. The ongoing construction, landscaping, mobile welders and other work truck using/towing vocations keep prices fairly high and stable.
I sold my 79 GMC Dually 454 for $3800 last year. So $3K is a reasonable price for yours, especially since it is a Diesel.
So I'm thinking list it for $4500 and try not to go lower than $3k.
Around here anything diesel with a turbo is 3500+. Including rust buckets. Non turbo diesels are even creeping up because all the "farm" boys need a diesel to cruise.
Its super rough and basically the least desirable Dodge Cummins but if its not rotted in half $2-3k is fair.
12 valve running Cummins should bring $3K all day. This is an opinion..
It's worthless. I can take it off your hands so you don't have to be bothered with it.
People don't seem to drool over the VE pump Cummins quite like the later P pump, but it should still bring at least 3000, maybe way more.
When it says Cummins, there will always be someone who thinks its worth selling their house for.
Easy button: put it on Ebay with a high reserve. Let's say, a reserve of $6000 with an opening bid of $500. On the 4th or 5th day, lets say it bids up to $3000. You can either let it play out and nost sell and you'll have a better idea of how to price it, or you can lower the reserve to $3800 and post that in the ad "Just lowered reserve to $3800". Then see if someone steps up.
Considering condition and Cummins, 3k is easy. I bet there are guys who love this body style that'll pay twice that.
That thing would look awesome with dual 8" stacks...
... I'll see myself out now.
I'm far from an expert, but I agree that a running not rusted out Cummins, especially a dually, is worth a minimum of 3 grand. I'd try fixing the smaller things and aim higher.
In reply to HappyAndy:
I've already come to the conclusion that if I fix the smaller things, I'll just keep it. Only reason I'm considering selling is that my 20 year old college student self thinks he needs a more dependable/cheaper to run/fix only vehicle. I'll probably unload my rusty shell of a '95 Dodge 1500 too, but that one currently isn't eating nearly as much as the red truck.
