So we'd be basically starting at 0. That doesn't sound fair to me.
The title will be branded. We had to get a salvage cert just to get our money from the insurance company.
In cases like this, we'd say that assigning a fair market value to the car in its current condition is fair for all involved. We just ask that you can back up that figure with some paperwork--ad for a similar car, etc.

But seriously, that is an absurdly easy fix. I've had 4 of those Novas and they're ridiculously simple to work on. I would just repair it and drive it.
