Do these mats make me look JDM?
Maybe?
And why we are writing about floor mats again? Didn’t we all discuss them enough regarding our Tundra?
Our old Miata mats didn’t stay put, and the edges were curling. Okay, true, they were at least 20 years old. It was time to vote them off the island.
We’re also fans …

I just loves me some talk about floor mats and shift knobs.......
As someone who's never used anything except for factory or rubber floor mats, I really don't understand what makes these mats "nice." Is it like the difference between cheap house carpet and nice house carpet? Please help (honestly).
10/10. Way more exciting than the multiple previous threads about floor mats.
In related news, Weathertech told me they're reducing their advertising spread from 40 pages to 3 pages ;)

That's probably a good way of looking at it--maybe, as we have tile. But these have some heft, stay in place, and just look cool. How about call it a texture thing. It also made me no longer think about replacing the carpet.
Sort of related, I just replaced the area rug here in my office. The old one was just tired and, well, someone (not me) had puked on it. This one is definitely thicker. It's a sisal-type, non-plush mat. Totally scored it on sale, too, for $60 delivered. But know what? Yeah, it does feel nicer and has a good heft to it. It really ties the room together.
Back in the day, I worked for a shop that sold coco and sisal mats. I finally splurged for a set for my SE-R. This was a big purchase for me. And, yeah, it made the Sentra's interior just feel nicer and a tick more upscale. (Also, I could have sworn that the mats didn't go with the car, but no idea where they are today.)
So, mats won't make you go faster. But, at least for me, make the interior feel more put together. YMMV, of course.
In reply to David S. Wallens :
Excellent, thanks
Big fan of the "quality touch points" idea. Driving is a tactile experience, no matter how fast you're going.

Thank god.
my weather tech are nice, but virtually can't be removed without feeling like something will break.
The Boxster's factory mats are pretty trashed, so I need to replace them with something. I've considered Cocomats, I do think they look nice. But, and this is a weird one, I'll admit, I'm hesitant to get fancy expensive mats when I have to take them out to go autocrossing. It's not that I don't trust my fellow autocrossers, but laying a cheap factory mat out in the parking lot when I'm doing my runs is one thing, but doing it with a mat that costs $200 is a bit of another.
Like I said, it's weird. And it pre-supposes that the car will A. Actually move again some day, and B. I'll be able to get to an autocross some day.
