The mirror on my truck keeps coming off the windshield and that stuff available at NAPA just sucks.
What do the professional glass guys use?

The expensive stuff from Advance, of the two options available. I have yet to have one fall after using that stuff.
I'd be curious to know. I've tried over the years and never found anything that lasted through the first summer.
i always use the generic kit at Wal Mart or whatever parts store happens to be open, and they never fall off again if i follow the directions..
Krazy Glue lasts until you put the mirror on.
or you could do like i did in my truck- i didn't have the kit and didn't want to drive 20 miles to get one in a sunday afternoon, so i just screwed the mirror to a screw that holds the trim around the windshield... 4 years later and it hasn't fallen off..
When I did the one on my van I used the NAPA stuff. It's held great for 5 years or more. Did you clean the glass as specified?
I did it to my 318ti 8 years ago.. the mirror was still very stuck to the glass when it went to the JY
the kits used to come with a glass vial with cotton end you poped to clean with do they still? Never had one fail with those cleaner vapor vials.
I have used a Permatex kit and it was good enough that the last time it fell off, some of the glass layers came with it
Glued it back on again and its been fine.

Same here. Cheap kit fell off. Better kit has been stuck to the windshield until I had the windshield replaced last year.
Go to a windshield installer and flip them a 10 spot to glue it back on. They still get the good stuff.
Went to Oreillys about a year ago to buy a mirror for the Civic.
They sold the mirror and adhesive separately. About $15 total if I remember.
The saleslady was adamant about allowing the windshield to cool to ambient air temp, out of sunlight, before using the adhesive. She recommended leaving the car in a garage for several hours prior to repair. Did all this stuff, and it is still attached. Oreillys has really upped there game in this area.
