Back for more help ha ha. I found these bushings in the arms of the trunk lid.

so I threw together just a proof of concept

would I just weld tabs to the part where the red arrows are and then weld those tabs to the rods?

Also is there a general rule as far as the height on the transmission side vs the actual shift lever (where your hand goes) to shorten on lengthen the throw of the shift?

Higher on the remote shifter relative to the transmission shortens shifter throws, lower lengthens shifter throws.
