Maybe I'm reading to much into this.    I believe the PCM in the Wife's Town and Country is failing (spark issue, transmission control issue).

Is it junkyard part swap or do I really need to have the replacement reprogrammed to the VIN?

Depends on the year.

Some years, nearly any ECM will work.  Others, it has to be the exact part number and reflashed for VIN.

In reply to Vigo :

Shutters between 45 and 55, random miss fires.

Seems down on power.

Seems to be hunting gears 4 through 6

I've replaced coil, wires and plugs.  Still have random missfire

Transmission also has had fluid changed recently to try to resolve the shifting.

Van currently has 108k

Before trying to repair any trans issue make sure the engine is running well with no issues. Beyond checking the fluid level and leaks.

As for the miss-fire, what code(s) are you setting, have you done a compression and leak down test, fuel pressure? Any strange brake issues or "hissing" noise coming from under the dash, and dose this van have EGR?

It's pulling a P0113 IAT Sensor.   Watching live data confirms it is reading temperature correctly.  Unplugging it does read the expected -40 volts

P0301 Cylinder 1 missfire.   I have new plugs, wire and coil

I have not done a compression test or fuel pressure.   The fuel pressure may not be a bad idea to check.

Yes, It does have an EGR valve.
