Yeah, Leaving tomorrow to head out to the Daytona 24 with my FIL.
After the celebrations we are off to OK to pick up the newest addition to the fleet and parts then the return leg to OH, figuring around 3000 miles in the next week.

At first glance I thought the title to this was OH berkley oh.
Someone call a tow truck, I need to get my brain out of the gutter.

Which part of Oklahoma? If your route goes anywhere near me, I'll buy you a beer or something.
Aussiemg, the "Lude belongs to a buddy of mine, so don't hesitate to ask if you need anything.
In Atlanta, have lunch at The Varsity. Nothing there is good for you, its really more of a ritual.
You will probably get here from Arkansas. Just understand, the exits don't come as frequently as the east coast. Plan your bathroom visits accordingly.
When you get here, get some BBQ, they know what they're doing here. I reccomend Van's Pig Stand in Norman, psychoboy can show you.
The road out of the state is a toll road, sorry. Yes, it costs more with a trailer. Look for $8 to $12 total
Saferacer is just outside of Joplin MO. In addition to being a great GRM advertiser, they actually have soem pretty cool deals inthe warehouse. Got a nice closeout Simpson helmet there.
Good luck.
I will be deferring to the god of GPS for the run from FL to OK, but any routing advise is very welcome.
I look forward to the tales of your adventure.
Please keep us informed.
I suspect that you and your FIL are close. If you are not now you will be by the end of this trip. Either close or the exact opposite.
Let us know when pick up the car and head NE again, there's a few of us here in Tulsa.
Anyone have links to this Prelude?
Prelude details can be found in this thread:

And on the AR end of 412 too
Did you find a place to put the trailer so you aren't hauling it all weekend? If not I can lend you a yard for the couple days.
i want the v8 lude, and i would offer you my p71 and parts car straight up for it and the $200 vic you bought - but my wife would destroy me on that one. she is really cool about things but i do not want to push her buttons too bad, we've been married for 6 months and i bought 2 cars since then.
Greg, picking up the Lude on the return trip to avoid that situation.
Pat, it just appeals to me, besides my wife gave up because the more she complained the more junk I drag home.
Our trip was pretty uneventful so far, turned East off 75 at 640 but after 30 miles we get advised that 40 is closed in SC, and we get diverted 50 miles out of our way. What can you do, spent the night in Ashfield and motored into Daytona this evening.
haven't hit the track yet but I will be a fixture for the next three days.
That rusty ole E150 of mine has now done 4 GRM events, towing to 2.

I once drove all the way through Oklahoma (from Texas to Missouri) with a Jeep + 2 axle trailer. I think the total damage was like $21 in tolls. Greedy bastards.
Day one in Daytona was awesome, GRM staff and the fellow reader were the usual social group, racing was great, the win was close between the one make but a little let down by the flock of "stangs".
Those gaggle of orange ST Civics did a demolition job, they just picked off the others one by one until the inevidible
Quote from FIL, in the DP pits, looking at the Gainsborough Prototype takes one look at the front end and "That would make a fabulous snow plow"
Too much time in Ohio.
It was good seeing you and your FIL, aussie. Better bring your rain gear tomorrow, though... they're still calling for rain and t-storms. Hopefully we'll be all right, since the tent already blew down this year. (That was sooo Monday.) You'd think they'd stop trying to use that crappy one we always start with!
Margie
hey Margie, Greg Voth and I want to run head to head on the track, now picture the 351 E150 vs the 5.0 Volvo wagon on the banks.
You'll need to log in to post.
