Love the roadkill episodes. They take me back to my younger days when the cars me and my friends built were all pretty much the same kind of last minute, spare parts effort.
Course, we did not have the resources to walk in to the parts store and fix what did not work by tossing the $$$ at it like they do. That safety net does detract from the show!

Exactly my cup of tea.
Or coffee, I don't like tea.
Ya until the engine let's go at speed, dumps oil all over the front tires, car plows through the crowd into a concrete barrier and the driver punches out the windshield with his skull. Those seat belts couldn't possibly fail. OK, that's crazy exaggeration but safety is safety. Cool video and build but that was not safe.
Seems just as safe as plenty of autocross/rallycross cars I have seen. The only difference is the driver isn't wearing a helmet.

Fun episode, quite entertaining, yadda yadda.
Just a note on Autox helmets - in a closed cockpit car you may not be in danger of deadly flying cones or omgwtfbqq speeds, but the interior of said car and passengers noggins are definitely in the danger zone. I've seen quite a few people ping-pong around in their cars during a snap spin, usually due to trying to keep their foot in it.
Cool episode. That 4.3 sounds incredible.
How long before they burn their shop down by not being careful with gasoline, or hurt themselves and/or someone else when one of their projects catches on fire, has a brake failure, etc while they are driving it on one of their road trips? And how much money do they spend on those cars that still barely even run?
The autocross set ups at good guys shows are pitiful. No wonder most of those guys think it's lame! A single lane defined by a constant walls of cones is no fun.
The show itself is cool though. I like that the guys genuinely look like they're having fun no matter what heap (that's how they say 'jeep' in Mexico) they're driving.

Finnegan already got rust in his eye one time and had to go to the docs. They have to throw money at this stuff as they are doing it really fast with deliberatly no planning and they have to do what it takes to get going. Also not everyone is willing to spend 100 hours to save $10.
They do some amazing work with what they've got in the time available IMHO. Go watch the Jeep episode. They pull it out from under a tarp and do some fairly important fixes fast without spending $$'s
As I said up thread. This series is single handedly responsible for me getting a subscription to the mag that I've never looked at before ($20 for 2 years)
Loved the episode and the Ratsun, want to throat punch every Goodguys official.

Don't forget the "almost killed ourselves towing a prius" incident.

Good point. That one could have been fatal.
Yeah the autoX course looked awful, there was more time spent on the brakes than the gas if you watch it.

Where's the APB for Finn's toolbox?
Part of me thinks Source Interlink had Finnigan and Freiburger insured for billions and is trying to kill them in order to inject new money into the company. But they have to die on the job to get the payout. That has to be it because selling magazines isn't making them any money.
So when Hot Rod finally collapses, will Freiburger and Finnegan be added to the GRM collective? What kind of move would that be like? How much old broken steel could they haul to Florida with them?

Roadkill has been my favorite show since episode 1. Even my wife enjoys watching it and shes not a car gal by any means.
Riiiight, because we're 100% safe, 100% of the time. We've never done sketchy stuff to cars before. Granted we were 18, and not these guys' age, but they're filming it a breakneck speed. You've seen far worse on the road.
I'd like to think with the running junk attitude they have, Roadkill is ripe for a Challenge build. They featured it in 2003 so you know they know about it.
Just wanted to chime and say I love this show. It's like the TV version of most GRM friends I know.
I too love the show and usually binge watch a few episodes at a time when I see new ones are posted.
I hadn't watched this show until last week. Now I've seen most of them (the weather has been really, really crappy. Yeah, that's it). I think the best part of the show is the fact that there is NO forced conflict, or manufactured drama or other BS. Plus they seem to really like one another.
I have now added Drag Week to my bucket list, and I have a newfound respect for 1/4 mile times.
I'm excited for Hot Rod Garage (the new show which will have Finnegan working on various projects in a controlled shop environment, presumably safely). The first project is the Gasser.
So far I've seen a few clips of him hawking Eastwood tools which is probably paying for the show.

Freiburger and Finnegan talk about Roadkill--The Magazine and making money on Carcast
Plus they get residual money for views and clicks for each viewing of roadkill...dirt every day etc.
i watch it every month, also usually watch dirt every day. I still wont ever buy the magazine again, the cars featured there are nothing like the roadkill builds!
