Ok, so what was wrong with the motor that was the original topic? Cracked piston perhaps?

Apparently you can't adjust a rocker ARM with a collapsed lifter. The valve will lightly touch the piston and make a mark on it. It will also slightly bend the valve. Makes a sound pretty similar to rod knock.

Lesson learned!

For the record, the spinning out of the trailer happened 10 minutes into the trip. My wife was driving, towing for the first time. I told her if the trailer moves a little, move WITH it.

She fought it and spun it 180 with no moisture on the ground.

Coolest automotive driving mistake that I ever got to witness. Zero damage to anything!
