I have a door handle problem.
My 98 BMW 328is has broken door handles on the drivers side. The door can be opened by pulling what's left of the handle forward and it may be repairable with some JB weld and an extra screw (VIN tagged as 'destroyed' in the system, never going to be anything BUT a track car, pretty is far, far down the list of requirements) which isn't a terrible problem.
The issue is the exterior door handle. Its broken, and from what I can see, not an easy fix. It's also no longer available. I have seen them pop up on eBay, but I'd rather leave them in circulation for someone trying to keep a street car useable / enjoyable.
It's primary function will be a drift car, but have recently thought about possibly taking it to some drag racing and maybe some time attack (like a Challenge competitor car) to try and get more use out of since even if I attend every drift event, that's 4 weekends from June to October.
So can anyone direct me to what would pass tech for an exterior door handle? I'd hate to come up with something that works, drive with the car on a trailer and be turned away in the techline because of a door handle.
