Another Saturn S series followed me home. I'd love to know the story behind the missing temporary spare, almost as much as I'd like to remedy the situation. Went to the Pull-A-Part today and no dice - all the Saturns were empty. How does one figure out the right interchange? OEM is a T115/70R14 on a 4x100, can't remember the centerbore. Are there backspace, etc. issues with these?
spares from Honda's and VW's should work...I think
The center bore on the Saturn is 57.1, the Cobalt and Ion fit as well as VW for certain.

I never understood it myself. Almost every car I have bought used was missing it's spare. Especially the goofy minispares.
The saab was one of the few cars that kept it's. The BMW I understand in a way, it is a pain to get it out from under the car and put it back when you are done.
hmmm if a miata mini spare would work, I can get you a deal!

It should, same lug pattern! Dont know about the center bore though...Same as a Ford Escorts...

Has anyone seen the new freaky-deeky spares on the Mercedes cars? They come as a completely flat chunk of rubber. You stick it on the car and inflate it and it turns into a full-size tire! I helped a woman put one on her Merc when I was stopped at a gas station. Pretty cool.
Do you need a spare? Sounds like someone already did that part of the "weight removal" job for you! How much does Saturn want for a new one?

The old 944's had a similar set up. IIRC, some of them came with a little air pump and some had a small compressed air canister to inflate the spare with. Mine has neither, so if I get a flat I'm pretty much berkeleyed.
Oh, and I'm sure others will work, but the official interchange is '91-'02 Saturn S series.
Any 4-lug Honda wheel fits, as does some Hyundai and Kia (if my memory serves correctly).
The Pull-A-Part had like 20 S series Saturns, so I didn't give it much thought. Ran over at lunch, and found them all (and most cars, as I started to pay attention) without spares. I need to go back when I've got some more time, hence the interest in interchange. I had never given thought to the temporary wheel and things like backspace, clearance and centerbore, etc. I'll look for Hondas - wonder if the tire is the same size?

Honda does not, it is 56.1mm.
do the temporary spares maintain the same centerbore or are they more universal? I'm starting to think that my only choice is from another S Series because of the combination of 4x100 and large center?
Yes.
You can use GM, VW or Nissan.
