Interesting. What are the chances they could make it after 2011?

I'd put their chances somewhere south of zero.
What I'd like to see? Fiat tells Chryslerberus to go screw, offers to buy out and support the whole Saturn structure, and phases in their products to a pre-existing dealer network over the next three years.
Who's with me?
If they want to do what they started out to do before GM got in the way, they may actually do better than GM. If they want to become a rebadging outlet for cheap imports from other companies like Suzuki is doing now, not so much.
Fiats rebadged as Saturns? Hmmmm.
I actually got hat email, I have bought two Saturns over the years. 1993 SL2, blue black 5speed with a sunroof. I live in hawaii at the time.
and now a 2005 Relay minivan.
I would like to see them go back to the way they were doing in buisness as in 1993, that was a dream. buying in 2005 sucked. I hope Gay Patrick of Sataurn of Champaign county reads this. And I hope he is let go from Saturn.....
If they fire Gary P and go back to their ways of 1993 then the will get my buisness.

They could also dump Saturn entirely and do:
Fiat Alfa Romeo Tata
under the F.A.R.T. banner.
no you add saturn to the end of that and it is FARTS and you guys need to be careful about the references to functions of the sphincter

hahahahhaha
he said sphincter
I just saw one of the old Saturns from the 90's in a parking lot. It was a twincam with a 5 speed. If I didn't already have the VW Golf I would jump on the station wagon version of that car in a second as a cheap hauler.
It sounds as if they are planning to import other cars... but who knows in two years? I suspect there may be some car manufacturing plants they might be able to buy for cheap, sitting around doing nothing.
During hard economic times I see greater demand for small cars in the 10K to 12K range. If gas prices go back up, demand for cars like this will go through the roof. Detroit has given up this market. Even Saturn has gone to making SUVs and Sports Cars. The only people building down there right now are the South Koreans and the Toyota Yaris. The Chinese are looking at that market too.
GM didn't want to build cheap cars then and they still don't. There could be room for Saturn in that market.
We have a Saturn store next door, the GM is on the board which will determine the future of Saturn. Right now they are discussing having GM continue to build their cars worldwide, like the Opel connection. But over the next couple of years they will put various platforms up for bid from different manufacturers. Due to the ups and downs of the various currencies, they want to move more production to North America. The reason: back to the Opel built Saturn, it was originally supposed to have hit the market at ~12K. Currency fluctuations pushed that up to ~17k.
His parts and service director said something that really amazed me: GM is considering bringing Opel back to the States and marketing them through Buick dealers, just as they did way back when.
