Very cool, but those wheels...
Still, I'd own it. Hell yeah. Even if I wasn't allowed to change the wheels.
It looks better with those wheels than the vintage ones that are "supposed" to go on it.

I think I saw one of those(or a replica thereof) broken down on the side of the highway today, I75 up around Pontiac IIRC, black with a white circle on the door. Parked next to it was presumably one his friends in a yellow S2 Elite.
And we're assuming it's not an F5 replica, or we just don't care?

The one in the photo is built by Superformance, and was designed about 10 years ago by Peter Brock, who also designed the original. It eventually acquired the Shelby name, Peter should be the person to explain how. An amazing car.

Nice. This one was at my local Cars N Coffee. One of a handful of continuation cars with CSX serial numbers...

Yeah--- if you see one, and you aren't at Goodwood or the Monterey Historics -- chances are nearly 100% that it is either a Superformance, or Factory 5 replica. ( The Superformance cars have been authorized by Shelby and IIRC have CSX numbers) They only made 6 of the originals. Rob Walton (of Wal-Mart fame) has one he regularly runs (and wins with) at the Monterey Historic races at Laguna Seca. He wrecked it last year---- although I'm sure it's been repaired, it was still painful to see.
These cars gave the U.S. it's first world sports car championship. These really were low-budget hot-rods built by a bunch of California guys (under Shelby's direction) to take on and beat Ferrari. The later GT-40 program had the full financial support of Ford, but these Shelby Daytonas were put together on a much smaller budget, without huge factory support.
There is a great documentary called "America's Greatest Race Car" that was produced a while back. It features Peter Brock, and Bob Bondurant and gives the whole story---- it's pretty darn impressive.
You can go see one of the original ones in unrestored condition at the simeone foundation near Philly.
My wife and I went there because a friend had heard that they had a few cool cars....
Yea, they do. Thye have several cars that I thought I would never see in person in real life.
Ferrari 250 GTO, Blower Bentley, that really famous prewar bugatti (type 21 maybe?)...
Etc.
