My local BMW CCA chapter doesn't allow convertibles on track, period. 
I know they aren't as awesome as the Z3 M-Coupes.
A Boxster would be another option.

z3m coupes are one of the most unusual (and imho) prettiest cars about.
If you wanted to hobby it up and get a cheap BMW you could "m" up.. that handles the same, buy a 318ti and transfer all the M bits from a wrecked M roadster or M coupe... it gave it's floor pan with the E30 derived suspension to the Z series
