Where exactly is the car at?
Tried to send you a message, but the the website told me to hit it with a hammer...
Anyway, I not sure I know how to inspect a non-running car, so any help would be appreciated. If you wouldn't taking a run up and looking at it drop me a line: bradltl at gmail dot com

I have owned 6 sciroccos since 2005, my first car being a 1987 16v.
The platform is a good base for modifications, as it is on the rabbit chassis (as already mentioned). The car does not take to bumps as well as the A2-up cars, and the "point of no return" in regards to spinning out in a corner is a bit harder to recover from than an A2.
Since you have an 85, you have the 12 gallon tank, space saver spare tire well, 9a trans (less ideal ratios when compared to the 83-84 4k trans) 100mm axles. Manual steering was a bit less common after the late 84's, and sunroofs were more common. I had my early 84 down to 2040lbs with a full interior after I did the AC delete. The 8v chassis is a bit lighter due to the lack of the aero add-ons and optional bits that usually came with the 16v. The core support on the 8v is also a lot less prone to crack than the 16v because of the hole size for the airbox inlet.
Your (non) running issues could very well be from varnished gasoline in the fuel system. Check lines, accumulator, BOTH fuel pumps (late 84-up had a transfer and an in-line), fuel pump relay. You can also have non-starting from the ground strap coming loose from the front motor mount due to worn side mounts. Also invest in a bentley manual. the $60 you spend on the manual will pay for itself tenfold.
The worst thing for any old VW like that is for it to sit. it raises all kinds of hell with the fuel system, and water leaks in the cabin through the fresh air inlet, courtesy of the rain tray drain hole being plugged with leaves and dirt.

I'd love to, but I'm going to Tuscaloosa with my brother on Saturday. Any other day would be great, though.
Finally got the additional pics... gain any knowledge?
I would offer somewhere between $100-$300
Looks like a good rallycross/lemons beater, if you want a nice scirocco you'll save a ton of money buying a clean car.
Ha! One word, two engines and a whole lot of time spent not having sex.
That is a BABE car if I have ever seen one!
Well, it's definitely an 8v.
The CIS is not as bad as you've heard, but they really don't like being dirty (on the inside). That's why it's so bad for them to sit for so long. Still, for less than $500, I'd do it...unless the holes in the floors are big enough to let you use your Flintstone brakes.
The seller does not want to come down to a price where I could use this as a LeMons car.
That said, it isn't much higher than LeMons price. So if someone is interested, drop me a line and I can put you in touch with the seller.
The hunt continues...
Sciroccos are only good for making Rabbits better, just like Corrados are only good at making Mk2 GTI's better.
Sub 500 for sure, that year range doesn't appeal to many. It's not a rust free Mk1 nor a decent 16v.
I've got a Datsun that would make a decent LeMons car. You may even win the Index of Effluency with it.
