Folks,

What are the preferred viewing places?

Are any of the grandstands worth the extra bucks?

Thanks,

Rog

Viewing mounds all over the track, bring a camping chair that folds out, they are usually the highest and easily accessible spots to watch the races from. There are some grandstands in the Corvette, porsche/audi corral areas, but you gotta sneak into those...I found the Porsche/Audi guys care less than all the Joe Corvettes about sitting in their grandstands. Oh and all those grandstands are by Turn 17.

The hairpin viewing mound is pretty badace, and if you can sneak into the Chatuea and go on the 2nd store balcony you can get a decent view as well.

Yes, yes they are. But FHP is fond of using aircraft for speed control. They will also set up "Wolf Packs", where one spotter will be on an overpass and 10 cruisers will be a bit farther down the road. Interesting to see how much business they get. They also use that technique with aircraft. On the regular highways you have to push it pretty hard to get pulled over, at least 10 over, but some of the small towns pay all their bills with traffic enforcement. We also have some really steep fines for bad speed. I can't remember, but at least 500.00 for 35 over.

Perfectly legal. Just be careful when you see perpendicular white marks at set intervals, those are for VASCAR, aka aircraft speed control. Very common here (it's so flat!) and a radar detector won't help. Watch out for the small central Fla. towns, too. They like speed traps.

if you are going 35 over there is no set fine, you must show up for a court date and the judge will determine your fine based on your driving record. You ask, how do I know this? Well I recently went through this for doing an "87" in a 50. Also got nabbed for illegal window tint and modified exhaust. $600 total in tickets, $400 for the speeding ticket based on my impeccable driving record and I got six months to pay it for being so polite in the court room.

very true, its actually a 4 day event. I have a sweet little cooler backpack that fits a 6 pack of bee...soda. Load up and cruise the whole track.

lube oil filter 8.....i have you beat. A couple years ago my g/f (at the time) and a buddies g/f designated me the cooler puller. Since I have a nice rolling cooler I improvised with some rope to give my arms/shoulders a break so I could carry my refreshments and have an open hand.

I have since redesigned with old backpack straps and a wasteband to minimalize the load on the waste and/or shoulders. This pic I had it going through my belt loops lol. I was also working on a starter mullet haircut and was possibly under the influence of soda pop.

In reply to DirtyBird222:

Haha! Nice cooler belt! I like your Gator coozie too. We try to set up camp near the hairpin. I'll be in a black 4 door tundra if you want to say Hey.

Nice work with my name/acronym.

You'll need to log in to post.
