I like trucks alot, always thought it would be fun to try and make my 76 f100 turn. But I used it as a tow rig for the car I owned at the time and couldn't find a way too keep it happy towing a 5k lb trailer and car combo 2 hrs too drag race without keeping stock ride height (on my budget)

As it is for several platforms.

Not that I have been thinking about (or Photoshopping) it or anything...

This was at a recent autocross here. Stroked three valve, 2014 mustang IRS.

The owner hadn't been to an autocross before. He really struggled, the torque converter was way too loose for autocross. He wasn't able to modulate the power.

I'm really hoping I get to see him again, I hate it when people come out once and don't give it another shot.

There is a 4.3L V6/automatic S10 that runs CAM with the NEPA region. I've seen it in action twice and it seems to be pretty dang quick. Also, proof that RPF-1s look great on anything.

I think a gutted Disco, made into RWD with an American Drivetrain, and lowered a lot, would be a lot of fun on the track. With the aluminum skin on a steel frame, it would put a lot of the weight down low

When I saw this thread title, I thought "that's interesting, haven't seen one pick up at auto-x."

Then there was the white Chevy short bed at auto-x yesterday.

surprise

I like the idea of sport trucks, but whenever I go down that particular mental rabbit hole I always seem to end up in pretty much the same place: Something like a standard cab short bed S10 with a carefully designed 'cage' in the cab, and front/rear tubular subframes, that will eliminate the ladder frame, add IRS and improved suspension geometry, move the (LS) engine back in the engine bay...Oh yeah, and remove 12 or so inches from the forward portion of the bed to correspondingly shorten the wheelbase.

Good recipie, sounds like the Chevy version of my truck

irony: the trucks go to the tarmac,  the s2000s go to the dirt (ok, we occasionally get a truck too)....

I've run with that truck. It's closer to my times than I'd care to admit.

Yeah, I had a whole series from there where the next photo the cone is totally gone lol. But, he always wins Stock RWD unless it's muddy. Then again, his main competition is the Comanche :) He was a 4-time Stock AWD champ and then decided to just use his daily driver S2K and ditch the Subaru.

Same here, considering it's still running leaf springs out back

I ran my Tacoma in the Houston SCCA region for a couple years in 2003-2004... stock height, on sticky tires with Bilstein HD shocks & some Eibach front springs,  Roadmaster Active Suspension, and Helwig rear ARB. Had it cornering at ~1G based off the DL-1 data recorder I had at the time... It's the vehicle I used for my first Evolution Autocross school (Phase I) and Andy Hollis said I was one of the smoothest inputting drivers he had seen and with a better vehicle could be very competitive. Not really a competitive person though, just wanted to have fun in my truck.

When ran it in the Houston Region would be about mid-pack raw time wise out of ~200 drivers. There wasn't a faster truck when I ran... the F150 Lightnings were to wide for their own good and some 2-3 seconds slower than my basically stock 4-cylinder Tacoma. Closest competition truck wise was another Tacoma which was lowered and had more power... still slower though. I actually ran in STF for a while with my buddies in their civic and other little hatchbacks and was usually vieing for second place. Trucks are just plain fun...

I had a desire to build a track truck, but now I would rather run a nice car on track instead. But offroad... I want a truck to have fun with that. My recent vacation taught me how nice the OME suspension (Old Man Emu - offroad Austrailan specialist company) is in my Frontier... absolutely rocked hitting 85-90ish mph on a primative dirt & gravel road... nearly as smooth riding as crusing down the highway. Also handled silt/sand, cattle guards and getting a few feet of air cresting a rise at 60'ish mph really nice. Actually had more of a blast then and there in my Nissan Frontier than ever did with my Tacoma. So for me now, offroad for trucks and tracks for cars. Wouldn't mind taking my Frontier to an autocross though... if it would be accepted to run these days.

I still need to see this thing.  And put some time into mine...  I put a whopping 200 miles on it all year.  I also approve of the numbers.  Mine is always number 59 at rallycross events.
