Bought a Jeep Wrangler near Cortland, NY. Need it shipped to the Baltimore area. Any suggestions?
Is retrieving it not an option? If the vehicle you and a friend drive up there gets 20 mpg and so does the Wrangler, that's 10 hours and under $100 in gas.
I recently looked into shipping a car from New Jersey to here in Florida. Uship quotes were $750 to $1000 or more. Most sounded like brokers, and a few downright scared me away. I spoke to an actual independent driver, and he said that he avoided New Jersey due to tolls. Anyway, in the end, since it was a new car, we had Reliable handle it. The car arrived clean and without any drama.
It runs and drives. I was thinking about taking a train up and driving back. I'm just so freekin' busy and try to spend time with the wife and kids. I could load it on the trailer and drag it down with the diesel but.....

That's a personal decision you have to make as to how valuable your time is. I've been in the exact same situation many times. And every time, I've elected to ship the car. Between work, my wife and 3 active kids, free time is very limited and very valuable to me. I just bought my FoST and had it shipped from Louisiana to Atlanta. It's only a 7 hour drive, but I built shipping cost into my budget and was happy to be able to spend the time with my family instead. By time I would have either flown or drove out there and driven/trailered home, it wouldn't have saved a ton of money anyway.
I had a car shipped earlier this year and my price was just under 50 cents per mile traveled. That means, if I had gone and gotten it myself, I would have to be able to move it for less than 25 cents per mile traveled there and 25 cents per mile home (it was not drivable.) When I added in needed hotel stay and fuel for a truck/trailer combo, I could only barely be cheaper. Then, add in a day away from work and shipping made more sense.
One week later, it arrived right at my front door.

I may be up for a roadtrip in a week and a half or so if you're interested in a ride up to pick it up. I'll keep you in the loop if you'd like. As a bonus on the way up I'll show you a place of interest for driving fun in Fawn Grove, PA.

My situation was Denver to Ohio but it seems their trucks run all over the country.
It's worth a call.
My car went over 1200 miles for $600. Paid cash to the driver when it arrived.
The equipment was exactly as shown on the website. Not stock photos on website - nice trucks.
My car had a bad master cylinder but still had a parking brake so they could load it onto the trailer and stop on via the parking brake.

Try Four Season Auto Transport, 802-751-0900. They make two trips per week from St. Johnsbury Vermont to Fort Lauderdale with a three car trailer. They moved my CRX from Connecticut to Maryland.
Good luck, talk to who ever you think you might want to use and get a feeling for their service level. I used Dependable Auto Shippers and they do not have good customer service. It took three weeks to get a car 650 miles from MD to MA, they just had excuse after excuse, if they even returned my calls. If you have time just keep getting recommendations but that still might not result in good service. I used DAS based on a recommendation and if time is no big deal then it should be less hassle. I expected a 4-5 day delivery and had made plans for the car and it screwed up my schedule. They did at least deliver it in good condition, just took a long time.
