The car I got to drive at 16 was a pumpkin-orange Impala sedan.

The first car that I purchased was a 1978 Cordoba. I wish I could say that it looked like this:

But it looked more like this:

Not the acutal car, but it looked just like this. 1980 four bannger Mustang with 4 speed that I got brand new in High School. (It really needed a 5 speed.) I drove it for 9 years. The 0-60 was around 14 seconds... or was it 16 seconds.

Got this Plymouth Duster named "Dusty" in high school as my first car. It's what got me into cars and modifying, racing, and showing them. I got a few first-place car show trophies at the All-Chrysler Nationals, NOPI, and a few other professionally-judged events.

My ex-wife forced me to sell him. That's the one thing I'll never forgive her for.

First car I ever legally drove. 1981 Civic 1500 DX. Looked just like this, right down to the foglights, except white with a tan interior. That thing was a hoot to drive, and unkillable to boot:

First car that had my name on the title, a hand-me-down from the parental units when I graduated HS in 1982. Although at that time it was gold, the right front fender was caved in (mom hit a parked car), and the top was shot. And it never had 4 hubcaps on it because they kept flying off from hooning. Dad helped me fix the rust, paint it, replace the carpet and top. I added the rallyes and RWL tires. Drove it daily for 10 years, sometimes for another 10 years, then not at all for another 10 years after that. Sold it to Curtis 10 days ago:

First car I ever bought with all my own money, and the first new car I ever bought. Just like this one, except factory tint in the rear windows:

I have no pictures of my first car, a 1968 Camaro. This is because my first girl friend burned them all. But it looked a lot like this:

First car was a 1955 Ford Fairlane Touring. Red and white 4 door. I was 16, looking for a car, my aunt told me a woman she knew up the street wanted to sell a car. I walked up and saw it sitting in the driveway. I did not want a 4 door (this was 1962), but I noticed the dual exhaust. I looked into the car, damn, automatic, popped the hood and removed air cleaner, 4 barrel carb. I replaced the air cleaner, knocked on the door. After a short conversation, owner gave me the keys. I went straight for the marked quarter mile outside of town (every small town had one). Ran it through both ways. 85 mph according to the speedo. Went back and closed the deal for $200. Later learned the engine was a 312 interceptor engine out of a 57 ford. Her daughter had ruined the 292. Most of my friends had six cylinders, flathead V8s or 265 2 barrels. At 25 cents a gallon for gas, I did a lot of cruising and racing.

1977 Pontiac Grand Prix (similar to this), bought in 1985 for $1k from a family friend after I joined the Navy. Silver w/ red top. Promptly made semi-decent rust repairs at the base hobby shop then got ambitious and tried to paint it at the same hobby shop. Inadequate skills plus crappy equipment = a mess of a black primered land yacht.

But I put American Racing Black Nugget wheels and Eagle ST tires on it. It was sweet. And a land yacht.

My neighbor sold my parents one of these for $50 in gold on brown plaid:

I couldn't get it to stay running or get a title for it, so eventually one of these became my 1st car:

It was a 1964 Buick Skylark that looked almost exactly like this, but it had steel wheels and hubcaps instead of the 15" Road Wheels. It had the 225 Fireball V6/2-speed auto combo and was the slowest car ever made. Man, I miss that car.

First car that I was given to drive was a Volvo 140 from 1969, similar to this. Luckily it decided to drop a gear while on the highway and popped the motor and my father gave me his BMW 320i after that.

Volvo

The actual first car I bought with my own dough was the 1992 Chevrolet Lumina Euro, two door. Had the 3.1 V6.

The actual car is in the background of this photo. The GN was the second car I bought with my own money.

Not mine, but same year/color/etc. I loved that car, but it was like a bad boyfriend: It was too sexy to kick, even though some days it treated me horribly. I finally got (mostly) over it, and in the process learned something about eyes being too wide for my wallet.

One of the few pictures I have of it in it's final state before I sold it. '87 with a full TII drivetrain swap (excluding the engine). If I would have been smart and bought a house with a two car garage - I'd still own it.

This was the first that was mine, a 1970 Jeepster Commando, 225 ci Dauntless V-6 3 speed manual transmission. I got it June of 1985, the last day of my junior year of high school. Before this I had driven a Buick Century that was a retired salesman's car from my dad's business.

Mine looked a LOT like the one in the photo above... including the paint, hubcaps, the curved bumper, and curved door trim

Mine was a 1981 Porsche 924 named Dory (after the troubled fish on Finding Nemo.) My dad pulled it out from under a tree in someone's field full of water and mice and gave it to me for Christmas when I was 13. What's a boy to do with a Porsche when he still has 3 years until he gets his license? Make questionable decissions, that's what. Ended up caging it and putting it back together as a full-time race car. Replaced the CIS fuel system with Mikuni side-draft carbs and replaced just about all the suspension with 944 stuff amongst many other things.

It was BLOODY slow and blew up about half the time I took it to a track but it was a learning experience and helped me get my comp license by 16. I did what I could on a highschooler's budget.

BOOM! Seriously, I went through engines like no one's business.

Last time I saw her was last summer on the way to the crusher.

Here's mine. I got it in '87, at 15 years old. It was the ugliest possible version of a V-8, 4-speed car, but it was a V-8, 4-speed car. It turns out, they only made 54 like that, so I decided to keep it around...and mod it. The tub's rusted out, so it needs restored, but I still have it.

No pictures, but my first car was a 72 Chevrolet Nova 2 door. It was equipped with a 250 cubic inch straight 6,and a three-on-the-tree manual transmission. I paid $250 which was probably too much, but who knows. The carb was sized solid and the paint had the same texture of asphalt, but I loved that car. My father scored me a set of beat up crager ss wheels which helped with the birth control looks of the car. I drove it for a few years and then gave it to my brother. He t-bone a geo storm a little while later. I think I still have a part or two from that car. I sort of miss it.
