What if you built a fiberglass nose/tail combo to make your XK8 look like a D-type?  Not a copy, of course, but something that was a  respectful homage to the original?  I'm sort of thinking of the Corvette kits that make a C6 or C7 look like a C1...

Those Corvette kits are pretty underwhelming....

It's difficult to make a modern car look like a vintage car, their sizes and proportions just don't work well.

I agree the xk8 coupe is just a great shape. It needs a 6speed though.

Those cross-generational designs are tough. Lot's of misses. Very few hits. A design needs to be from start to finish to look great. Just tacking on a different front end doesn't really fit a full design language.
