Don't need much amperage. Just enough to keep the battery charged during the race. One wire to the distributor. One to the fuel pump sort of load.
Compact size most important, weight second.
Probably use V belt but not afraid to swap pulley's.
My solution was from Toyota. Small with enough to run the Fiat. Details if you want.

I would say use a Datsun 1200 alternator they are light but they also have a separate voltage regulator, which may or may not be an issue for you.. The Datsun one is 8.5 lbs, 35 amp and available on Rockauto for $25. The regulator is $40.
My component weight spreadsheet has a Denso lightweight at 5.5 lbs..........sadly I didn't right down what the part number was.
I used a Geo metro on the MG. 8 LB. Half the weight of the Miata unit.

there are small Kubuto size alternators that put out close to 100 amps
Various yanmar, Kubota and even the john deere gator all use the little one I linked.
45 to 50 amps 8n a tiny form factor
Can be hidden behind one hand
on the grid at a vintage racing event around here you would be hard pressed to find a single car without one..
Yes they are internally regulated.. No they are not " single wire". You will need a switched exciter wire.
